Banner Guide – Apostle Olivier

NOTE: The patch notes have a typo, evasion is 3 times from +3 onwards.

Official Patch Notes

Overview

Makes Fallen Wings Olivier even stronger, and fills her cooldown gaps

Long lasting buff

- The strength it possesses independently is rather limited. Evasion boasts just two layers, and while the M.ATK boost it provides is decent, it’s not exceptionally impressive, particularly given its role as a non-damaging skill.

Near useless without other Olivier costumes

Olivier for PVE

Apostle Olivier is… somewhat disappointing compared to her lore level of power.

It’s quite clear that Pool Party Justia and Apostle Olivier share similar costs, but the former has more evasion stacks (4 versus 3 for Olivier) and provides a much stronger attack boost (300% as opposed to Olivier’s 80% M.ATK boost). Additionally, Pool Party Justia possesses SP regeneration, a feature that Apostle Olivier lacks entirely. This suggests that Apostle Olivier has been significantly toned down compared to Pool Party Justia.

Regrettably, it appears that the character Apostle Olivier primarily serves a single purpose: enhancing the appearance of Olivia’s alternate costume, Fallen Wings Olivier.

Olivier’s Fallen Wings outfit is a highly specific costume primarily intended for combat against dark enemies during fiend hunts and guild raids. Her Rampage skill unleashes massive damage, but this comes at the expense of depleting your entire SP gauge.

A character named Apostle Olivier is intended to be used prior to Fallen Wings Olivier, as she offers a substantial damage increase at a reduced cost, with an 80% M.ATK boost when fully upgraded. However, if you haven’t invested in Fallen Wings, Apostle Olivier doesn’t provide any benefit from her buff.

In PVE, three evasion stacks don’t significantly impact the gameplay because they are quickly depleted and the cooldown period is lengthy. However, in high-level fiend hunts and guild raids (considered the most “endgame” content), some evasion can be beneficial, even if it’s minimal. This is particularly true as light entities are susceptible to attacks from dark ones, unlike bosses of other elements where you have an elemental advantage.

Olivier for PVP

Typically, I’d be thrilled to have a 1 SP skill for PVP. Yet, as mentioned earlier, Olivier falls short compared to Pool Party Justia. Three evasion stacks and an M.ATK boost isn’t sufficient, especially since there’s no substantial benefit on the following turn.

Currently, Olivier isn’t suggested for Player vs. Player (PVP) battles, but this could shift once we acquire a third Olivier costume.

Olivier’s exclusive weapon

Olivier’s unique weapon enhances her base attack power. Given that Olivier excels as a guild raid specialist, players aiming for competitive guild raid rankings would be wise to invest in her and acquire her exclusive weapon.

In general, exclusive weapons aren’t essential unless you are focusing on achieving high scores competitively. Given that Olivier is primarily designed for guild raids, it’s possible to borrow him from a fellow guild member, provided someone within the guild has made investments in him.

Conclusion

frankly, I’m not particularly fond of this approach to designing costumes. Costumes such as Track and Field Loen and Apostle Morphea are acceptable because they have self-buffing abilities and deal damage, making them independently useful. However, Apostle Olivier is largely ineffective on its own and primarily serves as a support for the overpowered yet specific case of Fallen Wings Olivier.

If you’re after top scores in fiend hunts and guild raids, it’s essential to have both Apostle Olivier and Fallen Wings Olivier to effectively defeat dark bosses with their specific weaknesses. However, for those not focused on these high scores, Apostle Olivier can be overlooked. Luckily, you can borrow her from your guild mates during guild raids.
