Jason Momoa Reflects on His Son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa Being Cast in Dune Part 3: ‘A Rude Awakening is What He…’

In simple terms, Jason Momoa is going back to the Dune series for its third movie. His role is significant in the plot of this upcoming film, and interestingly enough, his real-life son has also joined the impressive lineup, taking on the character of Leto II.

In the upcoming film, Jason Momoa, known as Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, will predominantly appear alongside Ida Brook, who is cast as the twin sister of Paul and Chani, the other twin in question.

In the first film, the character played by Jason Momoa (Aquaman) selflessly gave up his life to save Timothee Chalamet’s character, Paul, and Paul’s mother. As depicted in the book, Duncan makes an appearance in the plotline through a clone form. It remains uncertain whether Villeneuve will adhere strictly to the novel or craft something entirely fresh.

Jason Momoa on casting of his son in Dune

Discussing his son’s role in the movie, Momoa expressed that it would be an “eye-opening experience” for him, as he put it during a chat with Extra. Essentially, he meant that his son was in for a shock, as suggested by his statement about his son’s casting.

Momoa also mentioned, “For the first time, he’s diving into the workforce. It looks promising. He managed everything independently, and I’m not getting involved. He’s accomplished this feat entirely by himself, and more power to him!

The Fast X actor expressed, “I truly believe he surpasses me, and I sincerely hope so.” Expanding on this, he added, ” frankly, I can’t fathom doing what he’s accomplishing at his age. It’s inconceivable to me that I could maintain my ground in a room with Denis Villeneuve, let alone hold my own. At 19, I was on ‘Baywatch.’ He’s only 16 and is already excelling alongside Denis Villeneuve.

During the movie, Jason underwent an extensive makeover. After six years, the actor decided to shave his beard for the first time. He shared a video of himself on Instagram as he prepared to trim his beard, saying, “Just for you, Denis.” Momoa then added, “I can’t stand it!” referring to his shorn beard.

As for Dune Part 3, the movie is set to hit theaters in December 2026.
