In the upcoming Genshin Impact version 5.8, a new voice actor is taking over Sucrose’s role, as Valeria Rodriguez has been replaced. The identity of the new VA hasn’t been revealed yet. On the positive side, several missing voice lines for characters like Aether, Lumine, Yelan, and Xilonen have been included in this update, suggesting that their original voice actors are back on board with the game’s development.
It appears that Rodriguez did not directly state his departure from Genshin Impact, but a goodbye message on social media posted a day before the update’s release hinted at this possibility quite clearly.
In a heartfelt message on platform X, Rodriguez expressed his gratitude to everyone who has been a fan of Sucrose, followed him since his debut, offered their support throughout his journey, and especially those who continue to back his latest projects: “I didn’t want there to be any unspoken words, so I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you.
Rodriguez was among those participating in harmful online actions directed at Jacob Takanashi, who temporarily filled the position of Kinich’s VP (Vice President), during the SAG-AFTRA strike.
After Keqing and Paimon’s Voice Actors departed, Rodriguez’s substitute was chosen, as these two were often seen as problematic within the community due to their actions during the recent strike, similar to their reputations.
Previously, Rodriguez had been vocal about a minor campaign advocating for a boycott of Natlan, mainly because they felt the characters lacked diversity. This initiative garnered attention online but ultimately failed to sustain momentum.
In typical fashion for such scenarios, the dialogue attributed to the characters will gradually change, beginning with their latest interactions.
