Recently appointed as creative advisors for a new cultural complex, Pharrell Williams and NIGO have revealed their plans for JAPAN VALLEY TOKYO, a project by a Japanese hospitality group that is expected to debut in the year 2027.
In Yurakucho Park, Tokyo, JAPA VALLEY TOKYO offers a unique blend of California’s wine country charm and Japanese culture, featuring craft sake instead of traditional wines. This innovative project presents itself as a “forward-thinking district for art, shopping, and hospitality,” hosting rotating exhibits of fashion, food, and design that showcase the best pop-ups from around the region.
For the first time departing from its standard vacation style, JAPA VALLEY TOKYO (not a hotel) is pioneering an urban creative haven right in the heart of Tokyo. Their aim is to seamlessly integrate art into people’s everyday routines.
Sketch designs reveal an intricate network of curvaceous, wooden buildings, adorned with verdant roofing and expansive windows for brightly lit interiors. At the heart of it all is a sculpture titled “COMPANION” by KAWS, adding a touch of enchantment and fun to the acre-sized area. Last year, this New York artist was also commissioned to select artworks for NIGO’s hillside NOT A HOTEL residence.
JAPA VALLEY TOKYO is slated to open for a limited time in 2027. Stay tuned for more updates.
