Oblivion Remastered has given Bethesda’s classic RPG a stunning makeover, but it hasn’t managed to eliminate its previous technical issues such as random crashes and fluctuating frame rates. Your feelings about these vintage problems might differ, but Bethesda has highlighted their efforts to enhance performance in the game’s recent updates. Regrettably, these improvements don’t appear to have significantly addressed the current situation.
Based on testing by Digital Foundry, it appears that the fundamental problems with Oblivion Remastered, such as inconsistent frame rates, persistent shifts in frame times, and more peculiar visual glitches, remain unresolved following the release of the 1.2 update earlier this month. These issues persist across both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve noticed that despite Bethesda’s claims in the patch notes about resolving frame rate drops in specific areas, reducing hitching in the open world, and enhancing frame time in numerous locations, my gaming experience hasn’t shown significant improvements in these aspects.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed an oddity in my gaming experience that I can’t quite put my finger on. The frame rates seem to dance around unpredictably during Digital Foundry’s tests – even after booting up fresh from a save every time, the frames per second can fluctuate mysteriously. However, it’s intriguing to note that these inconsistencies are remarkably similar to how the game ran before the recent patch.
In a recent episode of DF Weekly podcast, Alex Battaglia, who had earlier analyzed the PC version, expressed his surprise and disappointment over the results. He mentioned that the fixes promised in the patch notes were not evident, raising concerns that some issues, dating back to the original 2006 game, might be irreparable.
This update certainly addressed some significant door-related adjustments that Dark Brotherhood enthusiasts will appreciate, yet it doesn’t seem to tackle the performance issues you’ve been waiting for in Oblivion Remastered. Neither Bethesda nor community modders appear to have a solution for the factors affecting the game’s frame rate at this time. So, if you’ve been waiting with bated breath for a fix, it might be best to let it out.
