Vince Gilligan’s New Series PLURIBUS Shares Gross First Teaser, Image, Release Date, and Synopsis

Vince Gilligan, known as the kids might say, is on a roll. Few creators could dream of having a critically acclaimed and iconic series like Breaking Bad on their resume, but he surpassed that with Better Call Saul, a prequel that defied odds to possibly outshine its predecessor. Now, he’s moving away from the crystal meth world, even though he remains in Albuquerque. Instead of cooking up more meth, he’s now preparing something completely new for Apple TV+. The streaming service has hinted at Gilligan’s upcoming show with a cryptic first look – a yellow petri dish bearing a grin and the ominous message “happiness is contagious.

After making good on its word, it unveiled an initial, somewhat audacious marketing campaign for the upcoming series titled “Pluribus“. The preview showcased a female character in pink medical attire playfully enjoying office donuts.

Nope, don’t like that.

This show doesn’t belong to the same storyline as “Breaking Bad,” despite being set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Initially described as a light science fiction series similar to “E.T.” but set in our contemporary world, with an unusual twist on reality and a focus on exploring human nature in unexpected ways, it now seems to have taken a darker turn. Apple TV’s synopsis suggests that the show is about a person who is the most wretched on Earth, yet they must save the world from happiness.

It seems like the show might tackle the concept of excessive optimism, often referred to as toxic positivity. This interpretation also aligns with the name’s meaning – “Pluribus” means “many” in Latin – and the stylized spelling with a “1” instead of an “i.” The U.S. motto, “E pluribus unum,” translates to “out of many, one.” Perhaps it suggests that many individuals are being molded into one homogeneous entity. However, this could change if Rhea Seehorn’s character from both Better Call Saul and Pluribus can help everyone escape the trap of excessive happiness.

We still have some additional time left for brainstorming ideas, as the show will premiere with its initial two episodes out of nine starting from November 7.

Reducing someone’s happiness could seem like the act of a villain, but this time with Gilligan as the protagonist, we can wholeheartedly cheer him on. In contrast to her usual demeanor, the first image from the series shows Seehorn’s character as unhappy and burdened, clearly expressing concern.

The series additionally features Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D (The Hijacking of Flight 601), with Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death) making guest appearances.

The streaming platform Apple TV has guaranteed two seasons for the series “Pluribus.” If it turns out to be well-received, there’s a strong possibility that additional seasons will follow. After all, positivity tends to spread. However, there’s always the chance that one individual could halt its progression.

Hopefully she starts by stopping people from licking donuts.
