Where Winds Meet Gets 10-Minute Gameplay Showcase Ahead of Final Closed Beta Launch

Earlier this month, we were given a sneak peek at the upcoming open-world action RPG titled Where Winds Meet. Now, IGN has shared an extensive gameplay video, allowing us to delve deeper into the game. The video, which you can view below, offers a detailed exploration of the gameplay mechanics, including combat and movement, and runs approximately 10 minutes long.

As I dove into the captivating trailer, one feature immediately caught my eye – the lightning-fast movement system. Reminiscent of the ancient martial arts tales it draws inspiration from, this allows me to dash at breakneck speeds, glide effortlessly over water surfaces, and leap from building to building like a nimble Wuxia warrior. However, it’s clear that my character is quite experienced, suggesting that many of these traversal abilities may be earned as I progress through the game.

The video additionally offers glimpses into various entertainments available for players, ranging from watching performances at an open-air puppet theatre to engaging in a mini-game where you can compete against sumo wrestlers, potentially enhancing your in-game earnings.

Over time, the character navigates to an underworld region where a skirmish erupts. The character can employ various types of weapons in their arsenal to battle adversaries boasting diverse special powers that appear to correspond with the selected weapon. In essence, the combat is usually swift and frenetic, particularly when the player confronts a horde of less formidable opponents. However, tougher engagements necessitate employing more of the character’s assorted abilities to deplete their larger health pools.

It’s intriguing to note that the game’s menus offer a sneak peek, suggesting multiple ways it could generate revenue, such as an in-game store and a battle pass. Additionally, there seem to be buttons that may provide updates on ongoing events within the game world, along with a Draw button hinting at a potential gacha-like system similar to games like Genshin Impact for certain aspects of gameplay progression.

Additionally, the menus hint at cooperative gameplay modes being available, along with various social features such as creating and managing a friend list, joining guilds or teams.

The trailer shown recently highlights the narrative of “Where Winds Meet”, primarily delving into the life and impact of General Wang Qing on 10th-century China’s history. Eventually, his tale leads to a fierce battle where he manages to amass so many foes that they resemble a mound of corpses, but alas, he meets his end standing tall.

The game titled “Where Winds Meet” is continuing its last round of closed testing up until July 31st. It’s planned to debut on PC, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 5. Notably, the PlayStation 5 version will enjoy an exclusive six-month period before it becomes available on other platforms.
