Trump Saves Star Trek, Paramount, CBS

In simpler terms, it could be said that President Donald Trump might have saved “Star Trek,” Paramount, and CBS from a collapse brought about by progressive ideologies.

Previously, it was reported that Paramount might be reconsidering its diversity policies due to criticism from fans and increasing financial struggles.

As Skydance prepares to acquire Paramount Global, it’s clear that significant transformations are now underway, and Trump is basking in the glory of this development.

Skydance Confirms End of DEI

According to THR’s report, Skydance Media under David Ellison has communicated to the Federal Communications Commission that after the merger, they will discontinue all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs at Paramount. The company clarified that they currently do not have DEI initiatives and will not implement them in the future. Instead, they plan to adhere strictly to anti-discrimination laws.

After the Supreme Court’s decision in the case Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard in February 2025, Paramount has chosen to scale back on their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and adjust their hiring practices. As stated in Skydance’s letter to the FCC, Paramount will no longer implement race, sex, or gender-based hiring quotas, and they have discontinued their Office of Global Inclusion.

Ombudsman at CBS News to Address Bias

In order to secure FCC approval for purchasing CBS’s broadcast licenses, Skydance additionally committed to conducting a thorough examination of CBS News and establishing an Ombudsman role – a neutral figure or department tasked with investigating and resolving complaints.

That role will report directly to CBS News’ president and will handle bias complaints.

Thank Trump

It seems that the actions align with Donald Trump’s public criticisms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in corporations and perceived bias in left-wing media. In reality, President Trump has stated that Skydance Media pledged $20 million for public service announcements and advertising backing causes he supports.

What’s it mean for Star Trek?

The opportune moment has arrived for enthusiasts of the Star Trek series, as some have criticized its direction under producer Alex Kurtzman, finding it overly divisive.

It’s been rumored that, after the Skydance deal is finalized, Paramount might choose to end its partnership with Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout production company.

If such a situation arises, it’s possible that the future of Star Trek could once again focus on compelling narratives, setting aside any perceived ‘woke’ agenda that seemed to overshadow the stories in recent times. While Star Trek has always been known for addressing contemporary societal matters, it appears that the balance tipped somewhat, with the emphasis shifting towards the agenda rather than the story itself.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds concludes after a truncated Season 5, coinciding with the end of Alex Kurtzman’s contract. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for the Starfleet Academy series, scheduled for a span of two seasons before completion.
