As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to be penning the fresh take on the iconic Wonder Woman for DC Studios, building upon my forthcoming work on the upcoming Supergirl film.
New Writer for Wonder Woman, Teen Titans
According to reports, the writer who created “Supergirl” for DC Comics, Nogueira, has been enlisted by James Gunn and Peter Safran to write the script for the upcoming “Wonder Woman” reboot. Additionally, it’s said that she is currently involved in a live-action adaptation of “Teen Titans.
Wonder Woman fast-tracked
In a recent chat with Rolling Stone, Gunn also discussed the topic of Wonder Woman since it’s been accelerated in Warner Bros.’ development plans.
Gunn explained that he’s unsure about the concept of fast-tracking, but chuckled as he clarified that Wonder Woman has always been his top priority. They’ve started work on some initial aspects, and there are other projects that are nearly ready for approval – such as a potential TV show which he hopes will receive the green light in the upcoming days.
Gunn went on to say, “With some time elapsed, it’s crucial that we have Wonder Woman and Batman back with us. They hold significant value for us. It’s starting to feel like reaching out to everyone at DC and saying, ‘Let’s get this sorted. We’ve got talented writers for Wonder Woman, we just need to ensure the storyline is engaging and not someone who might take too long to write a script.
No Patty Jenkins, No Gal Gadot
This new version of Wonder Woman is being made after the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, which Patty Jenkins was set to direct. Jenkins had previously smashed records with the original Wonder Woman (2017), earning over $820 million globally. The sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, was released both in theaters and on streaming platforms, but failed to perform well at the box office.
Gal Gadot is no longer expected to return.
Part of DCU’s New Direction
In just two weekends, James Gunn’s version of Superman has surpassed $406 million worldwide. On the other hand, the upcoming Supergirl movie, featuring Milly Alcock and helmed by Craig Gillespie, is set to debut on June 26, 2026.
DC Studios is also developing Paradise Lost, an HBO series set in Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home.
Who Is Ana Nogueira?
Nogueira kicked off her professional journey in the acting world, appearing in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Michael J. Fox Show’. Her inaugural screenplay, titled ‘Supergirl’, was the one that made it to production first.
DC Studios at Comic-Con
This week, Gunn will join John Cena at the San Diego Comic-Con to present Season 2 of “Peacemaker.” There’s a chance that we might hear some new updates about the DC Universe.
