Doro made a trip to see the Statue of Liberty, which was connected to a promotional effort for the new version of NIKKE. However, let me clarify, Doro appears to be an individual involved in this marketing campaign, and not necessarily a product or service from NIKKE.
In no other city than New York might you witness an enormous inflatable character resembling an anime figure from a popular Korean mobile game drift along the Hudson River. That’s Doro, the surprising emblem, who’s making waves across the city as part of NIKKE’s innovative marketing campaign for their latest update.
But who or what is Doro, and why is she on the Hudson River?
The newest update for the game, titled “Boom! The Ghost!” released on July 17, is being emphasized by its South Korean developers Shift Up, who are also responsible for the popular game Stellar Blade. This year’s summer update is attracting attention and North America is a key market for the game’s player base.
Doro is an adored fan-constructed entity that the developers have drawn inspiration from. It’s worth noting that it isn’t the inaugural inflatable game character. In 2022, Chinese developer MiHoYo employed a similar approach by displaying a six-meter inflatable of their character Paimon on the River Thames in London. However, Doro surpasses this in size and, let’s face it, offers more entertainment.
Doro’s Hudson River tour is a part of the DoroFamily’s Summer Tour happening from July 18th through 19th. A comparable “Welcome, Marvelous, Doro Tour” will unfold in Osaka, Japan, from July 19th to 20th.

Who or what is Doro in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE?
Originally, Doro – also known as ‘Dororong’ or ‘Doro-chan’ – emerged from a popular fan art creation that merged the head of Dorothy, a peculiar character from the NIKKE game, with a sweet, round, childlike body. This unusual pairing quickly gained traction, resulting in Doro becoming an unofficial symbol and beloved figure within the gaming community.
Since then, Doro has taken on an informal role as the emblematic figure of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, with Shift Up, the South Korean developers, warmly accepting her. In the latest collaboration between Stellar Blade and NIKKE, Doro was included, and she even appeared in official promotional materials as inflatable Doro-shaped balloons. Additionally, you can now pre-order a Doro Series Blind Box for $15 each.
In Japan, Doro is another action figure on the rise, following a collaboration between hobby goods leader AmiAmi and Snail Shell. The figure’s poses are inspired by widely recognized Doro memes circulating online.
It’s challenging not to adore Doro, as it demonstrates the strength of a developer who is attuned and engaged with their user base.
