TOY STORY Returning to Theaters for 30th Anniversary

Thirty years ago, Pixar kick-started a new phase in cinema with just one film: Toy Story. This groundbreaking movie, the first entirely computer-animated feature film, left an indelible mark on countless filmmakers and studios that followed. It’s spawned a franchise widely regarded as the most successful and critically acclaimed in history, with not a single weak entry or special among them. In celebration of its upcoming 30th anniversary, Disney and Pixar are hosting a grand event. Toy Story is set to return to cinemas this fall.

Pixar’s legendary film, which made them a familiar name in every home, is set to return to cinemas later this year. The screening will take place on September 12th in theaters. This is two months before its 30th anniversary. Many of us who watched Toy Story in theaters originally can hardly believe it was first released on November 22, 1995.

After three decades of repeated viewings, there’s no need for us to be persuaded to watch one of the greatest animated movies ever made – Toy Story. It doesn’t require any hype. However, we certainly didn’t mind that Disney and Pixar did create some buzz around it. They followed up on this news with a very touching video, reminding fans they don’t have to wait until September. Instead, they can stream all four movies on Disney+ immediately.

This theatrical re-release is being motivated by the 30th anniversary, and it’s likely that Disney and Pixar are fine with this occasion also acting as a fantastic promotional event for Toy Story 5. The next chapter in the series will hit theaters on June 19, 2026 during summer.

Is it likely to match the quality of Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4, which have made a lasting impact on animation over three decades? Given the history-making run of this franchise, we’d be hard-pressed to find anything that could outshine it.
