For approximately five years, Netflix and Ubisoft have kept a low profile regarding their agreement to use intellectual property for shows on Netflix. However, lately, there seems to be some activity surrounding the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed live-action series.
The project is slated to progress under the guidance of Robert Patino and David Wiener, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Previously, Patino has been involved with series such as DMZ, Zero Day, and Westworld, while Wiener has worked on Halo, Brave New World, and Fear the Walking Dead.
Alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Matt O’Toole, and Austin Dill, the show also boasts these individuals as executive producers. As per Netflix’s Peter Friedlander, this series is a grand journey that not only upholds the heritage of the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ franchise but also offers an unprecedented adrenaline rush for both seasoned fans and newcomers, immersing them in the Brotherhood like never before.
The series centers around the clandestine conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. While the Templars aim to dictate human destiny, the Assassins strive to preserve their freedom of choice. According to Variety, it portrays its characters navigating significant historical milestones in their struggle to determine mankind’s fate.
