90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 6 Episode 4 Recap: Everything You Missed

As a dedicated follower of TLC’s 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, I cannot help but be in awe of the courage and determination displayed by these couples as they navigate their cross-cultural relationships. Each episode brings new challenges and obstacles that test their love and commitment to each other.

TLC’s “90 Day Fiance: The Other Way” keeps serving up drama as it follows couples who defy the odds by pursuing relationships across international borders. In the July 22 episode, titled “10 Things I Hate About Moving,” we saw the couples expressing doubts about their decisions and dealing with financial challenges while supporting their partners’ moves.

Josh, eager for a fresh beginning, relocates to his partner’s native land, while Statler ponders her partner’s influence on their relationship. Shekinah is fully committed to being with Sarper upon her arrival in Turkey, and Meitalia and James are on the verge of moving to Indonesia almost certainly.

Josh moves to China in a new luxury abode

I’ve been making significant changes in my life to help my husband Josh adjust to living in China. He looks forward to a fresh start as our taxi approaches his new home in Hangzhou. Having left behind his job as an HVAC sales representative in America and sold our house, we’re now relying on each other as we begin this new chapter together in our permanent relocation.

As reported by The Things, Lily covered the entire cost of USD 562,020 for home renovations prior to Josh’s move to China. Additionally, she is responsible for financing Josh’s living expenses as he will be jobless for five years due to China’s visa regulations.

Josh and Lily are planning their second, cultural wedding in China, but the costs have mounted and are proving to be a heavy financial load for them. A dispute ensued when Lily expressed her concern that she had depleted her savings, having shouldered the expenses for the venue renovations alone.

“I’m drained. Her constant reminders of her expenses towards me are unnecessary, especially after just arriving. I prefer not to dwell on it,” Josh expressed during the private conversation.

Despite Lily’s generous attempts to welcome Josh with delightful gestures, he felt uneasy when she shared her money concerns following her extensive expenditures. Yet, Josh covered the additional expenses for their cultural attire.

Shekinah compromises herself

I’ve been in a similar situation once where I traveled long distances to be with my partner, only to find that they didn’t put much effort into preparing for my arrival or making me feel welcome. They left their living space untidy and didn’t even bother getting rid of things that could potentially disturb our relationship.

Following an enjoyable evening, Sarper and Shekinah have a tender moment as she massages his back with soothing wax. However, Sarper confides in her that he hasn’t yet disclosed to his parents about the K-1 visa application, sparking a heated argument between them.

He attempts to convince Shekinah to abandon the plan of relocating to America and instead live with him in Turkey. However, she insists on staying put due to her responsibility to raise her child.

Statler and Dempsey prepare for their wild adventure

Statler is just on the verge of embarking on a van trip with her partner Dempsey through Europe. She’s managed to get an early payment from her job to cover her portion of their shared expenses for the vehicle.

Despite quitting her job and being unemployed, Dempsey relies on Statler for financial support. However, Natalie points out that Statler’s pattern of shouldering expenses in their relationship may indicate manipulation on Dempsey’s part.

In the episode, Natalie conveyed her concern to Statler by saying, “You often diminish yourself in many of your relationships and go out of your way to please people who haven’t given you much historically, I believe, because deep down, you anticipate being rejected.” She expressed her worry for Statler as she embarks on a new phase in life and relationship.

After this revelation, Statler finds herself second-guessing her future nomadic lifestyle with Dempsey, as the next day brings on a series of unsettling panic attacks.

James and Meitalia plan their big move

James and his wife Meitalia have decided to leave their home in Maine and return to Indonesia, where Meitalia is originally from. They got married two and a half years ago and had been living in Maine ever since. However, due to Meitalia’s health concerns, they believe it would be best for her to move back to her homeland. Although James was hesitant at first, they are now making preparations for the move.

It’s unexpected that the couple has kept Meitalia’s large family of seven uninformed about their decision to permanently move in with them.

Afterward, my sister advised me and James that we’d have better opportunities for employment in America than in Indonesia. She pointed out the meager minimum wage in Indonesia and warned us about the communication challenges we might face there.

90 Day Fiance: The Other Way airs every Monday on TLC at 8 p.m. ET.
