English Teacher (FX/Hulu)

Brian Jordan Alvarez’s new sitcom titled “English Teacher” made its debut on FX this year and left viewers smiling from beginning to end. The series revolves around the main character, a Millennial gay male English teacher, portrayed by Alavarez himself, and his daily ups and downs in a job that is often unappreciated. The show primarily focuses on Alvarez’s character, Evan Marquez, and his fellow dedicated (yet constantly exasperated) faculty members at Morrison-Hensley High School in Austin, Texas.

You Would Do It Too (Apple TV+)

By confining your viewing choices to shows in English only, you’re potentially overlooking some fantastic content. On Apple TV+, there’s a top-tier mystery-thriller from 2024 titled “You Would Do It Too“. Initially, this Spanish production may seem familiar, but trust us, it’s far from what you expect. “You Would Do It Too” is an exhilarating journey filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. In fact, we found ourselves reluctant to turn it off when bedtime came, always needing to watch one more episode. Fortunately, each episode is less than 30 minutes long, making it perfect for viewing at any time.

The synopsis of the series shares, “A bus is hijacked by three robbers—who end up dead before they can get away. Every passenger’s story is the same: A hooded man saved the day. As the case unfolds, the line between hero and criminal begins to blur.” We have chills just reading You Would Do It Too‘s description. And, of course, it will leave you asking… “Would you do it too?” Find out now on Apple TV+ and join us in crossing our fingers for a season two of the show to come our way sooner rather than later.

The Dragon Prince Season 6 (Netflix)

If you’re not currently enjoying the Netflix series “The Dragon Prince”, then I must ask, what are you engaged in? This fantastic TV show released its sixth season in 2024, with its seventh and final season also set for release in the same year. It’s a series that you certainly don’t want to miss out on. “The Dragon Prince” or “The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos” is one that has garnered much praise.

This show boasts some truly stunning visuals that are among the best currently available. I must say, it’s absolutely breathtaking. Plus, the vocal performances are exceptional and unmatched. If you’re looking for an immersive experience in something truly remarkable, don’t miss out on “The Dragon Prince”.

Drops of God (Apple TV+)

2024 saw “Drops of God” claiming the title of “Best Drama Series” at the International Emmy Awards, making it a TV show you definitely shouldn’t miss out on. This captivating series is an international production, filmed in French, Japanese, and English – quite remarkable! To limit your viewing to solely English-language programming would mean overlooking some truly exceptional television. “Drops of God” delivers a gripping narrative, coupled with dreamlike, surreal visuals that elevate its core storyline. Who doesn’t love watching brilliant minds engage in intellectual duels? And as an added bonus, you’ll gain valuable knowledge about the art and culture of wine!

Where to Watch Drops of God:

Right now, you can stream all eight episodes from the first season of “Drops of God” on Apple TV+. Excitingly, the series has already been given the green light for a second season!

Shrinking Season 2 (Apple TV+)

Initially, we were hesitant about Shrinking, the successor to the widely acclaimed series Ted Lasso, co-created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel. The show revolves around healing from grief in various forms and features a talented ensemble cast that includes Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, Harrison Ford, and others. To our surprise, the first season drew us in. However, we didn’t anticipate that the second season would strengthen character connections, tackle complex themes like infidelity, forgiveness, health issues, and particularly parent-child discord. Despite dealing with serious matters, it remains hilariously funny. While the initial season is good, the second season is rapidly heading towards greatness. Don’t overlook this underrated TV gem from 2024.

At the moment, you can stream seasons one and two of “Shrinking” on Apple TV+. The second season is still being broadcasted.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (Netflix)

If you’re a lover of the Tomb Raider game or movie franchise and haven’t yet watched Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, you’re in for a treat! This animated series, launched in October and already renewed for a second season, continues where the Shadow of the Tomb Raider film ends. The showrunner, Tasha Huo, is an ardent fan of the games, which is evident in the content. It delves into the sensitive and introspective aspects of this renowned character (voiced by Hayley Atwell), as she embarks on a grand, globe-trotting journey amidst grief. Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is superbly crafted, insightful, and culturally sensitive, featuring stunning animation and fast-paced action. With just 10 episodes thus far, it’s ideal for a Saturday marathon session and will undoubtedly leave you yearning for more!

Under the Bridge (Hulu)

You might recall Lily Gladstone’s notable performance in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” following which she was almost awarded a “Best Actress” Oscar for her role. However, not long after, Gladstone graced another highly-acclaimed Hulu series titled “Under the Bridge” as well. In this 2024 TV show, Gladstone and Riley Keough deliver powerful performances, with Gladstone taking the lead in a somber yet authentic manner. The series is based on the true story of Reena Virk’s murder, and it doesn’t sugarcoat the heart-wrenching sorrow that permeates the narrative. Exploring themes such as grief, child cruelty, poverty struggles, and racial pain, “Under the Bridge” is a demanding watch, but it offers a profound viewing experience that makes it worth your time.

Where to Watch Under the Bridge:

All eight episodes of Under the Bridge are currently available to watch on Hulu.
