50 Cent Names His Favorite Movie Ever and Fans Might Be Surprised

It’s been almost 20 years since 50 Cent first appeared on the big screen in Get Rich or Die Tryin’, the movie based on his life. That role launched a successful acting career, and he’s now been in 28 films, becoming well-known for his work in tough, action-packed thrillers and dramatic roles.

Considering his reputation for playing tough characters and his upcoming horror film, Skillhouse, due out in 2025, people might assume he prefers dark and violent movies.

Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, recently shared a surprising pick for his all-time favorite movie: the funny 1990s comedy Friday. In his book, You Gotta See This, he explained that he’s easily amused on the road, saying all he needs is a DVD player and a good film to keep him happy. But if he had to choose just one movie, he’d go with the 1995 classic, Friday.

The rapper said he keeps going back to this movie because it’s just endlessly entertaining. He loves that he can watch it whenever and it always makes him laugh, even after seeing it countless times. The film, a popular cult classic directed by F. Gary Gray, stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends dealing with a wild day in South Central Los Angeles.

What really impressed the creator of Power was the connection between the two main actors. He especially loved how they constantly find themselves in—and then out of—trouble during the film. He said watching them together is hilarious, and that their natural chemistry is a big reason why the movie has become a classic American comedy.

Although the first movie kicked off a popular series, the rapper still prefers the original. He acknowledged that he enjoys the sequels, but feels they lack the special chemistry of the first film. He especially loves Chris Tucker, calling him a hilarious comedian whose facial expressions always make him laugh.

Look, 50 Cent isn’t just a rapper anymore – he’s become a serious player in Hollywood. Right now, he’s got a ton of stuff in the works, and I recently checked out Moses the Black, a really tough, Chicago-based crime drama he executive produced, with Omar Epps and Wiz Khalifa leading the cast. It hits theaters January 30th, 2026. Beyond that, he also brought us the Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which took a hard look at some recent legal issues shaking up the music world. It’s clear he’s expanding his empire beyond the music industry and making a real impact on both TV and film.

Fans are excited to see him in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, which is set to release on October 16, 2026. He’ll be playing the strong boxer Balrog in this big-budget remake, alongside Jason Momoa and Noah Centineo. This role brings him back to the world of large-scale action films, where he first started his career.
