Since its 2019 premiere on Prime Video, The Boys has truly shaken up television. The show is known for being bold, relevant, and surprisingly moving, and it’s set in a world where superheroes are often bad people who are celebrated and supported by powerful companies. As the series heads into its fifth and final season, the situation in America is more intense than ever.
Homelander is acting like the President, people are being sent to what are essentially detention camps called “Freedom Camps,” and Butcher is on a final, desperate mission to eliminate superheroes, even if it costs him his life. As the show heads toward its conclusion, many questions remain, but here are five that absolutely need to be answered in season five of The Boys.
Will Homelander and/or Butcher Die?
The biggest mystery surrounding the show is what will happen with Butcher. After his actions in season four – betraying his teammates and disappearing – it looks like he’s returning and hoping to bring the group back together. Butcher has always been a flawed hero, and now that he has superpowers himself, it’s likely he’ll face a tragic end. He’s dedicated his life to destroying superpowered people, but the very weapon he’d use to do so could also kill him.
The main target for the Boys is Homelander. He’s been almost unbeatable throughout the series, easily overcoming any attack with his incredible powers. Now, as the final confrontation between the Boys and the Supes begins, Homelander is desperately seeking V1, which could make him immortal. The Boys absolutely have to eliminate him now, or the world will be doomed to endless chaos. After all the suffering, devastation, and turmoil he’s inflicted, a violent end is what he truly deserves.
Will The Boys Stay Together or Go Their Separate Ways in the Season 5 Finale?

Once the final battle is over, the future of The Boys is uncertain. If all supes are eliminated, it could tragically mean the end for Annie, Kimiko, and Butcher – Hughie is safe since he stopped using Temp V. This would leave Hughie, MM, and Frenchie devastated by their losses, leading to the group’s likely breakup. Ultimately, they’d have to find a way to move on with their lives.
Given his background, it makes sense for MM to assist in rebuilding the country and its military. He’s earned the chance to reconnect with his family and live a peaceful, private life. Frenchie could return to France and start over, maybe using his skills in a technical job or research. Hughie, meanwhile, might be able to help reform Vought – or even the government itself – something we’ll discuss further shortly.
If the superheroes survive, things could go in a few different directions. They might stay together and keep fighting against evil supers, or even expand their operations to another country – there’s a new series planned in Mexico, for example. However, if key figures like Homelander are defeated, the group might finally fall apart. Some members could stay together as couples, and everyone could try to build a normal life, though that seems unlikely. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see what happens to The Boys.
Will Vought Finally Crumble or Will It Reform Itself?

From the very start, Vought has been essential in creating and protecting the public image of figures like Homelander and Soldier Boy – despite them being far from true heroes. They’ve consistently covered up mistakes and spun negative events to their advantage, effectively making this world the way it is. Now, everyone is wondering what the future holds for Vought. Will the company collapse after Homelander’s defeat, becoming a forgotten piece of history from the age of superheroes? Or will they manage to rebuild their reputation and change for the better?
Okay, so Vought started as a pharmaceutical company, and honestly, that history is a bit of a disaster. But maybe, just maybe, they could actually use those resources to make medicines that help regular people! It’s not a given, though. They really need to clean house – hold the people still there accountable for what they’ve done and get some new leadership in place – definitely not Stan Edgar again! Even if they do all that, it’s going to take a huge amount of work to get the American public to trust Vought again, even those who still somehow support Homelander. It’s a long shot, but I’d love to see them actually do some good for once.
Will Supes Still Exist?

A major question hanging over season five of The Boys is what will happen with Butcher’s virus. It’s designed to kill anyone with Compound V, but releasing it would have huge consequences. While many viewers want to see villains like Homelander defeated, the virus would also affect the heroes, including Annie and Kimiko, and the young supes from Gen V – most of whom are genuinely good people.
Some supes, like A-Train and Cate, seem to be trying to make amends. But after season five of The Boys, will any supes still be around? It’s hard to see how the virus could realistically eliminate them all. Maybe a few could survive in isolation, living peacefully. Plus, how would you even distribute the virus worldwide? There are bound to be supes in many different countries by now, making it a really difficult problem to solve.
What Is Sister Sage’s Ultimate Plan… and Will It Happen?

It’s still unclear what Sister Sage is really trying to achieve. We know she was secretly working against Homelander while advising him, and she was connected to Thomas Godolkin, who wanted to eliminate supes he considered weak. However, she disagreed with his methods, believing they strayed from the bigger picture. Now that Thomas is gone, her true intentions remain a mystery.
