5 Best Elden Ring Bosses, Ranked

Here is our list of the five best bosses in Elden Ring that you can fight.

In addition to offering a stunningly beautiful world for players to discover, Elden Ring is also brimming with fantastic boss encounters. Each legacy dungeon hosts an exceptional battle against a formidable foe, and some of these are simply outstanding compared to others. While the minor dungeons and overworld fights may become repetitive after some time, FromSoftware spares no effort in crafting their major boss battles.

Here is a list ranking some of the best fights from the base game of Elden Ring.

5) Starscourge Radahn

In an unusual twist for FromSoftware games, Starscourge Radahn resembles a raid boss encounter. This unconventional aspect adds a distinct flavor to the battle, setting it apart from other fights in their games. The intriguing detail that a festival initiates the boss battle only enhances its appeal.

Besides the single summons, there are several others available for the battle too. If you decide to call upon every ally, you could essentially transform this boss fight into a full-scale conflict. However, beware that even with all that help, Radahn may still effortlessly defeat his opponents with his meteor attack.

4) Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Among all the epic boss fights in FromSoftware’s games, none compares to my encounter with Rykard, the Blaspheming Lord. His battle isn’t just two phases; it’s like facing two distinct enemies. The movesets are different enough that you can’t rely on previous strategies. Don’t let him being a ‘gimmick’ fool you – his arsenal of attacks is no walk in the park. Mastering the art of dodging his moves is key to survival. And let’s not forget, Rykard’s voice acting adds an extra layer of intensity that truly elevates this battle to legendary status.

3) Radagon of The Golden Order

In the main game of Elden Ring, Radagon is typically the second-to-last opponent you’ll encounter in combat. This battle, meticulously crafted, ticks all the right boxes and is so impressive that many players wish the game concluded with this fight. Regrettably, the subsequent battle doesn’t quite live up to the quality of the one against Radagon.

The boss’s music is an incredible rework of the main menu theme, and when it plays, you know you’re nearing the end of the game. Radagon has just one health bar, but his move set is so varied that it seems like his battle was initially conceived as multiple phases.

2) Malenia, Blade of Miquella

In the epic game Elden Ring, Malenia serves as a secretive boss character, often going unnoticed during initial playthroughs due to her discreet nature. This is because she is one of the most challenging Souls bosses ever created by FromSoftware (excluding Elden Ring’s DLC), and her difficulty sets her apart. She is a formidable adversary, known for her swift and lethal attacks that can be quite punishing to players. Throughout the fight, she undergoes two phases, which significantly increases the challenge she presents.

Beyond that, Malenia also has the ability to deflect your attacks. What makes her particularly challenging is that she regenerates health with each attack that connects with the player. The developers really pushed the limits with this one, resulting in a demanding yet extraordinary boss fight. Beating her offers an unparalleled sense of accomplishment.

1) Godfrey, First Elden Lord

In contrast to any other boss encounter in FromSoftware’s Souls series, Godfrey stands out uniquely, contributing significantly to its status as the finest battle in the game. Unlike others, Godfrey consists of two distinct phases, each accompanied by a separate cinematic sequence. Additionally, the game builds anticipation for this confrontation by providing tidbits of lore about Godfrey, making it an unforgettable experience.

Upon his arrival, the man exceeds all your expectations without fail. The subsequent stage becomes even more exhilarating as Godfrey unveils his true persona. He not only taps into his maximum abilities but also tests you at the pinnacle of his power. Moreover, you’ll appreciate how Godfrey transitions to close-quarter combat during the second phase.
