32nd Developer Notes: Start of Summer Update and 2nd Anniversary Update Preview

The exciting update for BrownDust2’s second anniversary is nearly upon us! In just two weeks, we’ll be sharing all about the update filled with sunny summer vibes. From this point forward, expect a steady stream of fresh content and numerous events until the warmth of summer starts to fade away.

Seasonal Event Remake – Post: Summer Knight

Next year’s summer-themed event, titled “Summer Knight,” is set for a revamp into engaging illustrated dialogue content. This update should bring joy to many! We eagerly anticipate your response as you delve into the retold seasonal story, along with our latest addition, the character named Zenith.

At the very moment Venaka is tidying up the competition zone following the pool party, Nebris, who was working temporarily as a lifeguard there, comes up to her. Nebris invites Venaka to share in some leisure time, pointing out they’ve both put in a lot of effort and deserve a break. After a brief pause, they decide to take advantage of their newfound freedom at the pool. However, Venaka accidentally slips and falls onto Nebris. This incident catches the attention of senior lifeguard Zenith, who quickly moves to apprehend them. It transpires that Zenith believed Venaka and Nebris were responsible for the numerous unconscious men at the party, assuming they had lured them in some way. To avoid arrest, Venaka and Nebris make a hasty escape. During their efforts to clear up this misunderstanding, they encounter an individual who surpasses even their wildest imaginations.

Introduction to the Characters

Poolside Guardian Zenith

Meet Poolside Guardian Zenith, an experienced lifeguard superior to Nebris.

She excels in survival skills, is knowledgeable about various swimming techniques and rescue methods, and possesses exceptional marksmanship. Her proficiency with projectiles is so impressive that she can incapacitate thugs by merely hurling inflatable tubes at them.

While maintaining a stern demeanor, she conducts patrols with an eagle-eyed vigilance, especially when on duty. However, despite her intimidating appearance, she has a soft spot for children, dreaming of befriending them.

During the 2nd anniversary event, Poolside Guardian Zenith will be available in the Pickup.

Laid-back Lifeguard Nebris

Meet the casual lifeguard Nebris, who works only one day at a time but radiates breathtaking charm.

Under the guise of ensuring safety, she’s dived headfirst into the celebration, intent on enjoying herself.

Her rescue tube, typically used for emergencies, is often found near her side. Yet, rumor has it that she treats it as a cherished plaything and frequently snuggles with it due to its delightful texture.

DJ Venaka


 

Emerging as a freelance disc jockey goes by the name of Venaka! This multi-talented entertainer not only charms with her striking appearance, but also impresses with her exceptional DJ skills and eloquent speech. Due to her impressive abilities, she’s been invited to host multiple events. Despite being well-known for her vibrant and energetic public image, rumors circulate that Venaka struggles with chronic fatigue from her demanding performance schedule. However, her dedication and unwavering professionalism in overcoming this challenge are what truly sets Venaka apart.

Summer Vacation Dalvi

Meet Summer Vacation Dalvi, a beauty who’s gracing the pool party scene. She’s made quite an impression in the Miss Aniweiss Qualifiers and her expectations for companions are equally high. Unfortunately, she’s been encountering men who don’t measure up. During the 2nd anniversary event period, you can obtain Summer Vacation Dalvi with a potential boost of +5.

Fiend Hunter Boss Rerun: Octovius

Octovius, who specializes in manipulating water properties, possesses a combat mechanism that inflicts substantial harm on its primary target, simultaneously providing favorable advantages to all opposing units, even the main one.

 

Summer Knight Event Pack Permanently Available

Pool Party Justia

To get the Pool Party Justia costume, you must have successfully completed the Normal Difficulty level for the first time. If you’ve already done this, you won’t be able to receive it. Alternatively, during the 2nd anniversary event, the Pool Party Justia outfit will be available in the Pickup.

Coming up next, we have some exciting news about our 2nd Anniversary update! The update is scheduled for Thursday, June 19th. In the meantime, pre-registration will be open for a fortnight, starting on June 5th and running until June 19th at 2:00 AM (UTC).

For those eagerly awaiting, here’s a little preview of the images we’re working on now. We’ll share more information during our 2nd Anniversary live stream.

In our upcoming 2nd anniversary update, we’ll be enhancing the supply of reforging powders from specific content sources. This includes an increase in the reforging powder you can earn from Glupy Diner settlement rewards and daily/weekly missions. Moreover, the amount of refining powder available for purchase in the Guild Shop will also see a boost (but the prices will stay the same).

For the first time ever, we’re planning to invite some lucky fans in person to this live stream. More details about participation and other information will be shared through a future announcement. Initially, we’ll be inviting Korean fans via a random draw, but we’re also looking into hosting events for our international fans once we start large-scale broadcasts.

Concerning our third project together, we’re meticulously going over all constructive suggestions from our worldwide audience.

Initially, we deeply regret and apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment you might have experienced during this event period due to the numerous glitches that occurred. We are particularly sorry for the confusion that arose from miscommunication within our team regarding crucial battle performance details. In our previous update, we pledged to reinforce our internal review processes before releasing content to prevent such issues from recurring in the future.

We would also like to address the additional feedback we’ve been receiving:

In our last update, we didn’t introduce special collaboration characters with unique abilities or high power since they were only available temporarily. We understand that newcomers who joined our game through this collaboration might have felt let down by the characters’ power level. Additionally, those expecting innovative combat systems and varied battles may also have been disappointed. These feelings of dissatisfaction strike a chord with us, given that “the character is the content.”

Although we aim to preserve balance in order to offer a quality service over time, we acknowledge that enhancing battle performance to satisfy all fans is no simple task. Taking your feedback into account, we’ll keep working on improvements so that more players will be satisfied with future updates.

We deeply apologize to our fans who admired the cutscenes in BrownDust2 but felt let down by this collaboration due to the illustrations not reaching their preferred maturity standard.
It’s important to clarify that we put forth our utmost effort to maximize the content quality while adhering to the guidelines provided to us.
We assure you that the skill cutscenes for the 2nd anniversary characters are being carefully crafted to meet your expectations. We humbly ask for your understanding as we work to deliver these scenes soon.

As a passionate gamer diving into this captivating world, I’ve noticed some differing opinions about Scheherazade’s depiction. While many found it resonated with the original work’s atmosphere, others were troubled by the scene where she was tormented by these strange creatures known as goblins.

I can empathize with those who felt a sense of unease or disappointment, as Scheherazade is a beloved character for many. Unfortunately, due to the current narrative trajectory, removing goblins entirely isn’t an option in this Story Pack.

However, we are committed to providing a more comfortable experience for our players. In an upcoming special home screen illustration set, Scheherazade will be showcased without the presence of goblins, catering specifically to those who prefer her portrayal without such elements.

1. Similar to the current option for skill cutscenes, you’ll be able to decide whether you prefer scenes with goblins or without them in the future.

2. We’re committing to improving character expressions moving forward.

3. The upcoming feature involving the aforementioned changes will be introduced as part of the June 19th update.
