28 DAYS LATER Isn’t Streaming Nor Available for Purchase, But It’s Coming to Digital Soon

As a devoted fan who’s been through countless nights of terror thanks to Danny Boyle’s masterpiece, “28 Days Later,” I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and frustration at the news of the upcoming preorder for a digital copy. On one hand, the prospect of finally owning a piece of this cinematic apocalypse is exhilarating. On the other, it’s a stark reminder of how quickly our access to media can vanish in this streaming age.

Fans of the “28 Years Later” franchise are excitedly discussing the latest trailer for numerous reasons. One theory circulating is that Cillian Murphy might reprise his role as a zombified version of Jim, given the resemblance between him and a zombie in the trailer. Moreover, fans long to revisit the original film, “28 Days Later,” which sparked the series, but unfortunately, it’s nowhere to be found on any streaming platform or for sale on DVD or Blu-ray. This is quite disappointing given the newfound enthusiasm surrounding the movie. Fortunately, Sony Pictures has announced that fans will soon be able to preorder “28 Days Later” digitally.

At present, you can find a link to register for updates on the preorder. This is excellent news, but it also underscores the advantages of having physical media in today’s streaming-centric era. If a title gets removed from streaming or goes out of print, owning it gives you the peace of mind to watch it whenever you wish. Nonetheless, acquiring a digital copy of 28 Days Later is a positive move, even though streaming it would be amazing as well. Perhaps in 2025, we might see a physical version with commentary and additional features when we approach the release of 28 Years Later.
