22. Record of Ragnarok
Every millennium, deities from all pantheons gather in Valhalla, a realm of spirits, for a meeting led by Zeus, the highest Greek deity, to discuss humanity’s destiny. This time, it seemed like most gods were in favor of human annihilation. However, Valkyrie Brunhild intervened and suggested that the gods prove their worthiness to destroy humans by competing against them in the Ragnarök tournament.
In this extraordinary contest, thirteen deities from diverse mythologies will battle it out against thirteen remarkable individuals who’ve left indelible marks on human history. If humanity manages to win at least seven of these 13 confrontations, the gods will choose to spare mankind. However, overcoming the supernatural prowess of gods like Zeus, Poseidon, or Shiva won’t be an easy task for the human representatives. They’ll need to push their limits to even stand a chance. Fortunately, they’ll have the aid of the Valkyries. According to the Volund principle, each of these thirteen warrior sisters will merge with one of the 13 mortal combatants, transforming into weapons specifically designed to harm gods. As the tournament unfolds, the gods will come to realize that mankind is not as feeble as they initially assumed.

His father, once a renowned warrior who has found redemption, is tragically killed by pirates under the command of the cunning Askeladd. Seeking retribution for his father’s death, Thorfinn infiltrates this group and aims to confront his father’s killer in a honorable duel. The thirst for vengeance serves as the central theme throughout the story’s introduction.
The narrative specifically involves him joining the Dane’s conquest of England during the early 11th century. This segment of the tale skillfully explores themes like warfare, government, faith, and religion. It also creates a realistic and empathetic portrayal of both the civilians suffering from the conflict as well as the warriors, challenging conventional Viking stereotypes.

This animated series illustrates the astonishing power derived from teamwork, and moreover, it underscores the notion that confidence enables one to overcome any hurdle.
17. Mirai Nikki
We can discuss an intriguing blend of psychological suspense, romance, and action in this timeless tale. The main character, Yukiteru Amano, spends much of his days writing entries in his smartphone diary and conversing with his mythical friends. Eventually, Deus Ex Machina, the deity of time and space, along with Murmur, his assistant, unmask themselves to him.
God provides Yukiteru with a “Random Diary” that reveals and details future events at random. Later, he’s thrust into a brutal fight to the death involving 11 other holders of similar powerful diaries. The victor will be declared as the new ruler of time and space, as God’s form begins to weaken.
In order to live on, I must locate and eliminate the other 11 diary owners. As we confront our foes in this sinister battle for survival, it becomes clear that Yuno harbors her own intentions.
The storyline of this animated series begins conventionally, but gets increasingly surprising as it unfolds. Therefore, be prepared for an exhilarating ride that promises unparalleled enjoyment.
16. Hellsing Ultimate

It’s impossible to discuss gore without bringing up vampires at some point. Every vampire story needs its hero, like the legendary Alucard, a vampire himself who battles his kin. In the series Hellsing Ultimate, he works for a clandestine organization called Hellsing, whose mission is to eliminate vampires and threats that endanger England.
At its helm stands Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, leading an impressive force that zealously upholds their cause. Following her father Abraham Van Hellsing’s retirement, she assumes power and transforms into a formidable and fearless adversary within the organization of Hellsing. However, it’s crucial to highlight the exhilarating fight sequences that this series offers, along with its depiction of intense violence.

The narrative revolves around a cluster of high school teens navigating through a global catastrophe, which has been labeled as “the Outbreak” – a horrific zombie apocalypse. It chronicles their struggles and the efforts of the school’s nurse to endure this dire situation together.
Throughout the narrative, they encountered not only zombies but also perils posed by fellow human survivors. This anime resembles a standard zombie film in many ways, yet its action sequences are extraordinary and elevate horror anime to an entirely different realm.
14. GANTZ
Picture a scenario where death occurs, only for you to find yourself in a game world equipped with weaponry and an advanced suit, tasked with battling extraterrestrials. There’s a chance you might not succeed this time either. I realize this sounds quite extraordinary.
16-year-old Kurono Kei meets an untimely death in a train mishap, only to discover himself among other deceased individuals in a building. Strangely, a gigantic orb also delegates him with the task of eliminating extraterrestrial beings. Yet, he becomes ensnared in a dilemma that challenges his abilities, ethics, and determination to endure life.

13. Beserk
I find that this animated series seems excessively graphic with its depictions of violence, and it’s definitely not suitable for young viewers or sensitive individuals.
In a turn of events, Griffith, head of “The Band of the Hawk,” makes the ultimate sacrifice, using his comrades for a ritual that grants him membership in the enigmatic group known as the “God Hand.” Yet, against all odds, Guts and Casca, his companion, manage to survive. College student Kaneki Ken discovers himself trapped in a perpetual cycle of death when he turns into a half-ghoul following a ghoul assault. In an attempt to preserve his life, the ghoul’s vital organs were transplanted into him, consequently causing his transformation.
In my perspective as a cinephile, the protagonist now grapples with the challenge of enduring and harmonizing his dual existence – half ghoul, half human.
“This anime has created quite a stir within the anime community, leading to significant sales and fantastic critiques. It’s strongly recommended that you watch Tokyo Ghoul.
11. Blue Gender
In this new realm, Yuji Kaido encounters colossal insectoids known as the “Blue.” Despite the fact that titans are evil, these oversized alien bugs instill a sense of unease within him. After being unconscious for two decades due to an incurable disease, he finds himself in this situation.
In this revised world, it’s no longer humans who rule the physical realm, but insects have become dominant. To escape their control, mankind sought refuge in a celestial sanctuary known as “Second Earth”, a space station specifically built to protect humanity.
In my perspective as a movie critic, I’d rephrase it like this: As humanity clings to existence amidst an alien invasion, I find myself drafted as a soldier, Yuji by name. The journey unfolds, exposing me to the unimaginable horrors that define life in our post-apocalyptic world. We survivors struggle daily, fighting for every breath in this shattered landscape.
This film showcases extraordinary events that unfold amidst hardship, making it a compelling watch. Therefore, Blue Gender is a movie worth seeing.
10. Elfen Lied
In the beginning of Elfen Lied, we meet Lucy, a genetically altered being resembling a human, who was once subjected to experiments. To break free from her previous confinement – a laboratory, she violently attacks her captors in a desperate bid for freedom.

9. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Similar to Attack on Titan, this anime portrays a society fortified by a colossal wall, erected as a barricade against the Kaban. However, unlike the Titans in AOT, these creatures originated from a baffling virus and feed on human flesh. Moreover, should an individual be bitten by one of these monsters, they would undergo a transformation into a Kaban themselves.
Over the course of time, an ingenious engineer named Ikoma develops a weapon that he thinks will be powerful against the Kabane. He’s eager to put it to the test, but unfortunately, during an unexpected Kabane attack on the city, Ikoma gets bitten instead. Remarkably, his transformation into one of them is incomplete, leading him to become a hybrid instead.
Afterward, he leaves alongside the remaining survivors to find safety, facing waves of Kabanos along the journey – reminiscent of the thrilling scenes in World War Z.
8. The Promised Neverland

Following the tragic loss of their cherished friend Conny, Emma, Norman, and others uncover a startling revelation: The place where they grew up was not an orphanage but a farm for breeding them as food for demons. With the guidance of Ray, they set out to devise a plan to free themselves and everyone else from this horrifying situation.
Meanwhile, they’re doing their best to keep “Mother”, their nurturer responsible for the kids, unaware of what they’re up to.
Following a sequence of surprising developments, they uncover an astounding fact about their reality – a revelation that’s sure to captivate your attention!
7. Death Note
This narrative centers around Light Yagami, an exceptionally intelligent teen, and his encounter with a “Death Note” previously owned by the Shinigami named Ryuk. By inscribing individuals’ names within this book, the owner acquires the extraordinary power to cause their death.
Under a new identity known as “Kira”, an entity with a focus on shaping a better world eliminates individuals considered morally corrupt or criminal elements by utilizing the Death Note. This includes persons involved in illegal activities such as crime and terrorism.
Despite being assigned to capture Kira, an enigmatic Japanese police unit, spearheaded by detective L, takes on the challenge. However, as the story progresses, there emerges a mental duel between Light and L, the detective.
In this new formulation, I’ve tried to maintain the original meaning while making it more readable and conversational in tone. The focus is on clarity and simplicity for better understanding.
Death Note is the perfect anime for mystery, dark fantasy, and psychological thriller lovers.
6. Fullmetal Alchemist
To be clear, I’m not showing bias, but this anime is absolutely mind-blowing! The unexpected plot turns, thrilling action sequences, intriguing mysteries, and undeniably, the humor. Oh, and it does contain graphic violence as well.
Edward Elric and his sibling, Alphonse, endeavor a dangerous alchemy to resurrect their deceased mother, but they tragically fall short in their efforts. As a result of the failed attempt, Edward loses his left leg, and Alphonse loses his physical body. However, in an act of selflessness, Edward forfeits his right arm to create a suit where Alphonse’s spirit can reside.
As a devoted cinephile, I find myself immersed in the captivating world of Fullmetal Alchemist. Having crafted his limbs from metal, Edward assumes the role as the State Alchemist, earning the title of Fullmetal Alchemist. In this tale, he and his brother embark on a three-year odyssey, their sights set on the legendary Philosopher’s Stone – a tool to help us achieve our dreams. The story revolves around Tanjiro, who becomes part of the Demon Slayer Corps – an entity established for the sole purpose of eliminating the demon infestation. Tragically, his family is slain by Muzan Kibutsuji, the initial demon, and his sister, Nezuko, gets transformed into a demon as well. Remarkably, despite being a demon, Nezuko demonstrates human-like behavior and refrains from consuming humans.
This is the reason why Tanjirou joins Demon Slayers to find a cure for his sister.
As he journeys along, he makes new acquaintances and forges powerful connections, all while vanquishing obstacles that come his path. Moreover, he swears to track down and eliminate Muzan Kibutsuji, and uncover a remedy simultaneously.
You can count on being thoroughly captivated by this anime, given its exceptional fight sequences and compelling narrative. Be warned, however, that it does contain some graphic violence.
3. Black Bullet
This time around, humans find themselves once more in a situation where they’re taking refuge behind towering monuments of Varanium to shield themselves from the harmful Gastrea organisms.
As a movie buff, I’d rephrase it like this: “I’m referring to these unique young girls, often tagged as ‘Cursed Children’. They harbor extraordinary powers due to the virus within their systems. Interestingly, they are recognized by the Tendo Civil Security as ‘Initiators’, and they’re paired with protectors known as ‘Promoters’.
I, a dedicated supporter, take on the role of a promoter, teaming up with the exceptional Enju Aihara. Together, we embark on various assignments aimed at confronting the monstrous threats birthed by the Gastrea virus, ensuring their relentless advance is held back.
2. Akame ga Kill
If you’re a fan of tragedies like myself, I believe you might find Akame ga Kill quite appealing. I’ve been watching it, and thus far, it hasn’t failed to impress me.

Unfortunately, they are separated during an ambush by bandits, and upon reaching the city, Tatsumi falls victim to deception. He is then welcomed into a prestigious family who assure him of military connections.
However, a ruthless gang known as the Night Raid cold-bloodedly murders Tatsumi’s family. Shockingly, they were also responsible for the gruesome deaths of his friends, who had been subjected to torture and drugging. Consequently, Tatsumi swears vengeance against this family and decides to join the Night Raid, aiming to rid the capital of such wicked elements.
1. Castlevania

In this new installment of the series, the focus lies on vampires and Alucard (Dracula), adding a touch of intrigue to the classic story. Known as the original and most potent vampire, Dracula resides in his enchanted castle, but fear not, the vampire hunters are also present and accounted for.
Castlevania is an animated series set in a dark medieval Europe with horror and action elements. The story revolves around Dracula, who falls for a human, Lisa Tepes, falsely accused of witchcraft and condemned to death. Upon learning about her execution, Dracula becomes enraged, threatening the city with devastation if they don’t evacuate within a year.
Yet, they chose to ignore his alarms, and unfortunately, a year had passed before Count Dracula dispatched his nocturnal minions to annihilate the whole town.
In a turn of events, Trevor Belmont, belonging to the lineage of the Belmont family, encounters Sypha Belnades, a gifted mage with speaking abilities. They are on a mutual quest to locate Alucard, the offspring of Dracula and Lisa Tepes.
As a cinema aficionado, I find myself united with a group of heroes in our relentless pursuit to thwart the tyranny that Dracula seeks to unleash upon the globe, a terror that would be drenched in blood. Indeed, there was an abundance of blood, a chilling testament to the struggle we face.
