In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Asbell, head of 20th Century Studios, confirmed that director Dan Trachtenberg has already completed filming for this secret project. And here’s the kicker: it’s set to hit theaters next year, before the other announced ‘Predator’ movie titled ‘Badlands’ premieres in 2025! To top it all off, Asbell also hinted at a new ‘Alien’ film being developed by 20th Century Studios as well.
I’m thrilled about the upcoming release of “Predator: Badlands” starring Elle Fanning, scheduled for November 7, 2025. But here’s an exciting twist – it seems there’s another “Predator” film in the works by Dan Trachtenberg! This one is set to premiere before “Badlands,” and it appears we didn’t even know about its production. Asbell shared this tidbit with THR, referring to “Badlands” as the theatrical release, suggesting that Trachtenberg’s film might debut on a streaming platform. Interestingly, Trachtenberg’s first “Predator” movie, titled “Prey,” was initially planned for Hulu. However, due to a last-minute change, it’s now slated for the big screen!
It seems that there’s a lot of mystery surrounding the upcoming movie, often referred to as “Predator.” Its plot and casting details remain under wraps, making it an intriguing enigma within the entertainment industry. What makes this particularly interesting is that Disney allowed another studio to produce a film for one of their major intellectual properties without revealing any information until now.
Another piece of news that’s no longer under wraps is that 20th Century Studios is working on a follow-up to Alien: Romulus. Asbell mentioned they haven’t finalized their agreement with director Fede Alvarez as of yet, but he indicated they plan to. Furthermore, Alvares has proposed an idea that the team is currently developing, and it seems possible that it could revolve around the characters who lived through Romulus.
Is there a fresh Alien film and an unanticipated Predator movie coming up? Could we possibly see another Alien vs Predator? Well, it’s plausible. When asked about this, Asbell responded, “Probably.” However, he also clarified that it wouldn’t follow the pattern of past crossovers as it won’t be like the previous ones.
