2026 Oscar Nominations Shock: ‘Sinners’ Sweeps While ‘Wicked: For Good’ Gets Zero Nods – See The Full List

Movie fans had a big moment Thursday morning! The Academy Awards nominations for the 98th Oscars are out, and this year’s list includes some historic firsts.

During the nomination announcement, presented by Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman, Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners made history. It received an incredible 16 nominations – more than any other movie ever has.

Following a hectic period in Hollywood, the award nominations are in. Several films were in contention, but only the most outstanding received recognition. Paul Thomas Anderson’s thriller, One Battle After Another, was a strong contender, earning nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. The film’s actors also received praise, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor all being nominated for their performances.

Several other films also received many nominations this morning. Chloé Zhao’s drama, Hamnet, and the movie Marty Supreme both did well. Timothée Chalamet is currently the favorite to win Best Actor for his performance in Marty Supreme. The nominations also included critically acclaimed films like If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, featuring Rose Byrne.

But the biggest shock came with the nominations for Wicked: For Good. The film received absolutely no recognition from the Academy, and neither of its stars, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, were nominated.

As a big cinema fan, I was thrilled to see so many deserving actors recognized at the Golden Globes! Timothée Chalamet, Rose Byrne, Teyana Taylor, Stellan Skarsgård – his performance in ‘Sentimental Value’ was fantastic – Jessie Buckley for ‘Hamnet’, and Wagner Moura for ‘The Secret Agent’ all took home awards, which I’m sure will give their chances at other awards a real boost.

Beyond the competitive awards, the Academy also honored some incredible figures with special awards recognizing their lifetime achievements and contributions. Dolly Parton received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her dedication to helping others, particularly through her Imagination Library, which has donated around 285 million books to children. Hollywood veterans like Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, and production designer Wynn Thomas were also celebrated for their impactful and enduring careers.

I’m so excited – you’ll be able to see the winners take home their Oscars really soon! Mark your calendars for March 15th, 2026, because the ceremony will be on ABC. And get this – Conan O’Brien is hosting! I can’t wait to see him lead the show, it’s going to be hilarious.
