Eiichiro Oda’s “One Piece” is an extraordinary series, not just due to its sheer awesomeness, but also because it has become part of history. The crew led by Monkey D. Luffy and known as the Straw Hat Pirates have traversed the world and encountered numerous adventures, vanquishing a multitude of villains throughout their journey. This article will focus on these malevolent figures, as we present to you a ranked list of the top 20 “One Piece” villains in the series’ history.
20. Kuzan / Aokiji
Originally serving as an Admiral, Kuzan (better known as Aokiji), later steps down from the Marines following the promotion of Akainu to Fleet Admiral. Despite any circumstances, this individual exhibits a laid-back demeanor and tends to adopt a nonchalant approach throughout his tenure.
He adheres to a path of moral righteousness, with a special focus on the devastation of Ohara. He believes one can uphold justice without unintentionally harming innocents. In another life, Aokiji consumed the Devil Fruit Rogia, granting him the ability to transform into an iceman.
This character has the power to swiftly turn foes into ice blocks and can also freeze large bodies of water at will. His appearance is modeled after the renowned Japanese actor, Yūsaku Matsuda.
19. Borsalino / Kizaru
Kizaru, originally known as Borsalino, holds the rank of an admiral within the Navy. He is frequently portrayed as a man who seems uncaring, absent-minded, and forgetful. In his interactions, he typically speaks with a cool and composed demeanor, never showing signs of distress, even in challenging scenarios where he sometimes mockingly feigns fear or astonishment.
Kizaru adheres to what’s often referred to as an ambiguous form of justice: he appears unmoved by the plight of criminals, yet ensures innocents are not harmed in the process and reprimands his men for any hesitation. Kizaru consumed the Rogia Pika Pika fruit, which grants him the ability to transform into a being of light.
Just like any owner of a Rogia fruit, he possesses an extraordinary ability to turn himself invisible on command, as his body consists entirely of photons capable of instant reassembly if damaged. Additionally, he can emit beams of light similar to lasers, impact opponents, and travel at the blinding speed of light. The distinctive features of his face are modeled after the iconic Japanese actor Kunie Tanaka.
18. King
Known as “King the Inferno,” King is a pirate who sails with the Beasts Pirates, under the command of Kaido. He’s one of the three calamities within the Beasts Pirates. Belonging to the rare Lunarian race, native to the Red Line, he possesses the ability to generate and control fire, a skill that is becoming increasingly scarce among his kind.
The man in question stands exceptionally tall, nearly reaching Jack’s impressive stature; even Fukurokuju, who is quite tall himself, seems diminutive by comparison. He dons black attire, a mask conceals his face, and he sports glasses along with a distinctive pointed hat. Being one of the Three Calamities, he serves as a trusted lieutenant to Kaido.
17. Charlotte Cracker
Charlotte “Thousand-Arms” Cracker serves as the Minister of Biscuits on Biscuits Island within Totto Land, also being a key member of the Big Mom Pirates’ Sweet Commanders. He hails from the Charlotte family, being their 10th son and 15th child. Among his siblings, he is the eldest of the triplets, sharing this birth order with Custard and Angel.
A lean, well-built individual goes by the name Cracker. His hair is styled in a tall and lengthy mauve bun, with two additional tall buns on the sides, each adorned with flame-like ends, and a few strands falling across his forehead to create a fringe. He has slender, elongated eyes and bears a scar on his right eye.
1. He frequently appears with a wide grin across his face. His attire includes a violet-pink cloak adorned with white spots that rests on just one shoulder, a waistcoat resembling broken biscuits, and trousers and footwear in brown hues.
2. He’s usually spotted with a big grin. He dons a mauve-pink cape dotted with white, hanging only from his left shoulder, a waistcoat that looks like crumbled biscuits, and wears brown pants and shoes.
3. You’ll often find him beaming. His outfit consists of a violet-pink cloak with white polka dots on the left side, a belt fashioned from what seems like broken biscuits, and he sports brown trousers and boots.
4. He’s usually in good spirits, sporting a wide grin. His attire includes a mauve-pink cape with white spots visible only on his left shoulder, a waistcoat that resembles bits of broken biscuits, and he wears brown pants and boots.
5. He’s usually cheerful, flashing a big grin. He dons a violet-pink cloak with white dots on the left shoulder, a belt made from what looks like crumbled biscuits, and sports brown trousers and shoes.
16. Charlotte Katakuri
Charlotte Katakuri is Big Mom’s second-born and holds the position of Minister of Flour, also being one of the three Sweet Commanders. A staggering bounty of 1,057,000,000 Berries has been placed on her head. As per Brulee, not only has she never suffered a defeat, but she’s never even been knocked off her feet.
He conceals his vast maw teeming with sharp teeth under a scarf at all times, revealing it only during feeding sessions. In such instances, he becomes utterly secluded, eliminating any individual who catches sight of him, regardless of whether the viewing was intentional or not.
In a public setting, his demeanor is cool and polished, exuding an air of tranquility. However, behind closed doors, he exhibits an unbridled greed reminiscent of Big Mom herself. Yet, he harbors a strong sense of loyalty and honor towards adversaries he considers deserving of respect.
15. Señor Pink
Sr. Pink is often perceived as a formidable individual due to his involvement in the Corrida Coliseum tournament and being a member of the Don Quixote Doflamingo Pirates. It’s widely believed that he has a 100% chance of winning the tournament, much like Dellinger, Lao G, and Machvise. He is one of the fighters under the leadership of Diamante.
It appears he demonstrates remarkable physical power, shown by his ability to hoist and knock down Franky. Notably, he endured a missile attack from Franky without injury, then rose back up despite his wounds – a clear sign of his exceptional toughness. Furthermore, Pink successfully caused significant harm to Franky’s metallic structure.
14. Gecko Moria
Gecko Moria, also known as the Sea Warrior, was among the most seasoned pirates sailing across the Grand Line, renowned for his prowess in battle. In terms of physical resilience, he managed to regain his footing after enduring a Gomu Gomo Pistol and Storm from Nightmare Luffy, which sent Oars sprawling. Furthermore, it appeared that Moria remained unscathed when Nami’s electric attack struck Oars. Given his imposing stature, he was capable of effortlessly lifting a typical human with just one hand.
He recovered quickly from Jinbe’s powerful strike and resumed fighting, although the attack temporarily took him out of the battle. Moria, however, proves to be both cunning and strategic, as he frequently shows an interest in complex strategies. On various occasions, he is seen planning for the future with his zombie minions. He manipulates their positions on different bodies, adjusting them according to the situation at hand, always adapting his plans to achieve his objectives.
13. Vinsmoke Judge
He has a worldwide renown, primarily due to his leadership of Germa 66. This status makes him one of the most notorious criminals and conquerors in North Blue. Even after Germa ceases to be a kingdom, he continues to wield power, influencing the mentions of the Primes. His influence extends to the order placed on Sanji’s wanted poster, where it states “Only Alive,” which was his command.
As a monarch, he is entitled to participate in dreams, or reveries. Being the sovereign also grants him control over Germa 66, thus commanding an incredibly potent military unit. He vanquished four Kings of North Blue, thereby showcasing his might. These previous roles and deeds elevated Judge to a notorious figure in the criminal underworld.
12. Magellan
As the chief overseer at Impel Down, Magellan held supreme authority over the penitentiary. But following the time skip, Hannyabal assumed leadership, whereas Magellan was relegated to the position of vice-headmaster. According to Mr. 2, Magellan is infamous for silencing even the most perilous inmates. In fact, all the prisoners hold a deep fear of him. Even two ex-Corsair Captains, Crocodile and Jinbe, showed apprehension at Magellan’s imminent approach during their attempt to escape.
Regardless of his recent demotion, he remains Impel Down’s most dependable and powerful figure, but a large portion of his time is spent in the bathroom due to persistent diarrhea. Given that he rests for approximately eight hours daily (excluding meal times and breaks), he essentially works for four hours. Yet, he holds both the power and skill to execute any prisoners within Impel Down at his discretion.
Even with Magellan enduring approximately 10 hours of intense diarrhea each day and requiring 8 hours of sleep, he manages to skillfully oversee the Impel Down defense teams in case of a possible intrusion or an attempt at prisoner escape. He remains vigilant and well-informed about all the mechanisms and hidden dangers within the prison.
11. Buggy the Clown
Despite being quite terrified, he managed to journey to the island with Roger’s crew, preceding Laugh Tale. Struck by illness just before departure, neither him nor Shanks could reach Laugh Tale. It remains unclear if he is aware of the tale of the Missing Century and its profound meanings due to circumstances.
Buggy consumed the Fruit of Fragmentation, a Devil Fruit belonging to the Paramecia class. This unique ability enables him to detach and independently manage his limbs. Remarkably, he can even make them soar through the air. However, his feet are the only parts rooted to the ground; any other part of his body must remain within a 200-meter radius from his feet or else it becomes immobile and he loses control over it.
It appears that among all One Piece characters, he is the one who can endure Mihawk’s attacks and challenge him. This could be a key factor behind the World Government designating him as one of the seven formidable pirate captains, implying a strength greater than commonly perceived. According to Brandnew’s latest analysis, Buggy has significantly boosted his power level.
10. Hody Jones
As a fish-human hybrid, he boasts a strength ten times greater than typical humans and twice as potent in water. Yet, his might surpasses even fish-human norms: he can effortlessly demolish a colossal stone wall with a mere grip, and propel droplets of water with such power that they impact like lethal projectiles. Usopp noted Arlong was no match for Jones. Camie confided to Nami that Jones’ might is terrifying, but his intellect may pose an even greater threat.
In the anime, he engaged Zoro in an underwater battle that left him weakened, but due to the circumstances, he wasn’t fighting at his full potential. Contrastingly, in the manga, a pirate from the Straw Hat crew easily defeated him with just one strike and it seemed effortless.
In my fandom, during my tenure with the Neptune Army, I was distinguished for my exceptional skills as a soldier. This recognition afforded me valuable insights and hands-on training in battlefield tactics.
9. Arlong
Arlong is an extraordinarily large fish-man, towering and stronger compared to typical humans. Even among his own kind, he stands out as one of the biggest. It’s been mentioned that his strength surpasses that of Don Krieg, the most powerful pirate in the East Blue region.
As a hybrid of human and fish, this individual boasts an astounding strength ten times greater than that of regular humans. Remarkably, his power intensifies underwater. Yet, it’s not just typical Fish-Man strength he wields – he has demonstrated feats that surpass even Fish-Man standards. Witnesses have reported seeing him lift a house with his bare hands in a desperate search for Usopp. His formidable shark jaws can bend metal, crush stone, and tear through flesh effortlessly.
Apart from his remarkable endurance against pain, it’s worth noting that Arlong has an extraordinary ability for self-healing. During his battle with Luffy, he lost numerous teeth but they swiftly regrew, and he effortlessly realigned his broken nose without any sign of discomfort. Moreover, when Arlong becomes enraged, he enters a frenzied state resembling the Sea Kings. In this condition, his power and speed surge dramatically, making him significantly more formidable than usual.
8. Rob Lucci
Lucci is usually with his loyal sidekick Hattori, who’s rarely apart from him, except during battles. At Franky’s hideout, he presents the picture to Hattori. Known as the strongest member of CP9 at age 13, he already possessed superhuman strength on his initial mission where he eliminated 500 soldiers and withstood five cannonballs, a feat that gave him the infamous title of the cruelest executioner in CP9 lore. His reputation is so formidable that even Vice Admirals suspect he could endure a Buster Call, the Navy’s most devastating attack.
Many soldiers view him as an unmatched legend and a formidable figure who strikes fear into everyone. This is evident in his initial clash with Luffy and his effortless dismissal of Zoro. In his missions or battles, not even the Vice-Admirals dare to intervene on his behalf. Instead, they resort to demolishing structures to eradicate the opposition, confident that Lucci will emerge unscathed from such destruction.
Additionally, it can be said that he possesses a keen analytical ability; after multiple interactions with Luffy during their second battle, he discerned that his Gear 2 serves as an enhancing drug, granting him increased power at the expense of his bodily strength. It’s worth noting that Lucci’s endurance in physical combat is remarkably robust: even when taking substantial harm in his duel with Luffy, he remains undeterred and determined to engage the entire Straw Hat Pirates crew.
7. Enel
As the self-proclaimed deity of Skypiea, I, Enel, wielded absolute power over the floating island. My Mantra was my ultimate weapon, a tool I held in high regard and often mistook for invincibility. However, the truth was that Luffy’s unique immunity to the Goro Goro no Mi’s powers made me appear weaker than I actually was.
Yet, when it came time to prove my strength, I showed no mercy. I effortlessly and swiftly defeated Robin, Gan Forr, Wiperm, and Zoro, leaving them with no chance for retaliation. It was a stark reminder that beneath the facade of weakness, there lay untold power within me.
Enel possesses a deep understanding and keen insight into various objects that most townsfolk are unfamiliar with, such as the worth and characteristics of gold. He keeps this information private. Prior to Luffy’s arrival, however, he was completely oblivious to the existence of rubber.
Apart from being exceptionally insightful, Enel possesses an impressive knack for adapting quickly. Despite his self-assured nature, Enel’s forecast that only five individuals would survive the Survival Game, including himself, proved incorrect. Rather than detecting Luffy within Nola’s womb, he mistakenly eliminated Gan Forr, the ancient deity, in an attempt to reaffirm his prediction.
6. Charlotte Linlin / Big Mom
Charlotte Linlin, commonly recognized as Big Mom, holds the distinction of being the sole female among the Four Emperors, commanding the pirates of her fleet known as Big Mom’s Pirates, while also serving as matriarch of the Charlotte family and reigning queen of Totto Land. This towering 68-year-old woman is renowned for her enormous hunger and insatiable sweet tooth.
If Big Mom wants a particular treat but doesn’t receive it, she becomes enraged, causing destruction, devouring nearby objects, and even going so far as to harm her own offspring. Despite her harsh actions, she yearns for Totto Land to be a haven where all races can coexist without prejudice or separation.
Big Mom possesses the Power of the Paramisha Soul Fruit, enabling her to control and manipulate souls. This unique power grants her the capability to extract a person’s soul simply by touching them, either fully or partially reducing their lifespan.
5. Crocodile
In the Alabasta storyline, Sir Crocodile serves as the primary villain, while also taking on that role in the eighth movie.
He possesses a strong self-confidence and deeply trusts his abilities, which consistently manifests in his respectful interactions with everyone, from the highest ranks to the lowest; he rarely becomes angry and consistently demonstrates exceptional intelligence and diligence across all facets of his strategies, ensuring their success even when they don’t unfold as initially anticipated.
A crocodile consumes the Rogia Sand Sand fruit, enabling it to transform into sand and become invulnerable to solid objects, while only remaining affected by liquids. This unique fruit also grants the crocodile the ability to generate storms and whirlwinds of sand, as well as dry out anything it comes into contact with by sapping its liquid content.
Rather than a left hand, Crocodile wields a massive golden hook, concealing within it a potent poison that can induce heart failure in enemies. Prior to becoming part of the Seven Warships’ crew, a reward of 81 million Berries was placed on him.
4. Sakazuki / Akainu
Akainu, originally known as Sakazuki, starts off as one of the three high-ranking Navy officials (admirals) and eventually assumes the role of Grand Admiral following Sengoku. He’s characterized by his cool demeanor, strict rule, and mercilessness towards pirates and lawbreakers, embodying the ideals of unwavering justice more than any other character.
It appears his allegiance is more towards the Navy and its principle of fairness rather than the government itself. This angered him upon discovering that even the revered Five Stars of Wisdom were manipulated by Donquixote Doflamingo under the Celestial Dragons’ orders, a group he doesn’t seem to hold in high regard.
3. Donquixote Doflamingo
Donquixote Doflamingo serves as the primary villain in the Dressrosa storyline. Often referred to as “The Celestial Devil,” he leads the Donquixote clan and holds the title of King of Dressrosa.
One of the world’s most powerful figures in politics and economy, he has been the mastermind behind the slave trade on the Sabaody Islands for some time now. He is also a notorious criminal leader in the New World, operating under the alias Joker. Interestingly, he holds such influence that his power surpasses even that of the highest-ranking naval admiral, due to his knowledge of a secret involving the celestial dragons.
This individual is one of the world’s leading figures in both politics and finance. He has been controlling the slave trade on the Sabaody Islands for years, while also heading numerous criminal activities in the New World under the name Joker. What makes him unique is that his authority extends beyond even the grand admiral of the navy due to his knowledge about a secret involving the celestial dragons.
Doflamingo is a hardened, merciless, and unfeeling character who champions a fresh age of piracy where there’s little or no space for dreamers and visionaries. He has the ability to spin threads from his fingers, thanks to consuming the Paramisha Filo Filo fruit.
Due to them, he has the ability to manipulate an object as if it were a puppet, employ them for assault and cutting, utilize them to mend internal injuries within his body, and with his power manifested, change nearby items into strings that can be handled at will. Satisfaction.
Prior to his entry into the Fleet of Seven, his bounty amounted to 340 million Berries.
2. Kaidou
In the world of “One Piece,” Kaido stands out as the last Emperor to make an appearance. He’s commonly known as “The Beast Lord” due to his position as Governor-General of the Beasts Pirates, a vast force composed of Smile users. Until his capture, he was supported by Donquixote Doflamingo in this role.
He’s often referred to as “the most resilient being on Earth” due to his remarkable ability to withstand even the most extreme circumstances. Despite being defeated seven times, captured by the Navy, and defeated eighteen times by his adversaries, enduring countless torments, and facing forty death sentences, he has miraculously survived every time.
Because of this, he’s often seen as being immune to death, and he persistently, yet unsuccessfully, attempts suicide, to such an extent that it could be considered a favorite hobby of his.
1. Marshall D. Teach / Blackbeard
In the world of One Piece, Marshall D. Teach, commonly referred to as Blackbeard, plays a significant role as one of the primary antagonists. He commands his own pirate crew under the name Blackbeard and was once an underling of the powerful Whitebeard. Following his victory over Portuguese D. Ace and handing him over to the Navy, he earned admission into the Fleet of Seven, taking the place previously held by Crocodile who had met his end.
Subsequently, he leverages this vantage point to orchestrate an infiltration into Impel Down penitentiary, where he enlists some of the deadliest inmates ever imprisoned, before ultimately tendering his resignation. With his expanded forces, he becomes a pivotal figure in the Battle of Marineford. After slaying Whitebeard, he acquires his power and ascends to the ranks of the Four Emperors, claiming his seat among them.
