Okay, so we’re right in the middle of that crazy time of year when tons of new games come out. October is *always* huge, and 2025 is shaping up to be the same. There are a ton of awesome titles dropping this month – seriously, there’s bound to be something for everyone as we head into the holidays. I’m already planning my wishlist!
Here are the biggest video games releasing in October 2025, so you know what to look out for.
Ghost of Yotei – October 2
The long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is starting this month! The game features a larger and improved world with even more content. Early reviews are positive, giving it an average score of 87 on Metacritic. You can read our in-depth review of Ghost of Yotei to get our full impressions.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger – October 3
The newest Digimon game is launching soon, arriving a few weeks before this year’s Pokémon release. While official reviews aren’t available yet, early previews have been very encouraging, suggesting that Time Stranger could be one of the best games in the Digimon Stories series for a long time. If you’ve been curious about the series but haven’t tried it yet, this might be the perfect opportunity.
Battlefield 6 – October 10
Despite limited excitement for the latest Call of Duty, Battlefield 6 is starting strong with a lot of positive energy. The game’s open beta received excellent feedback from fans of military shooters, and it has the potential to outperform its competitor, Call of Duty, now that it launched earlier this month.
Little Nightmares 3 – October 10
Little Nightmares 3 introduces a fresh element to the series of puzzle platformers, known for its distinctive art style and scary gameplay. This installment focuses on two main characters and is built for cooperative play, but you can also play alone; the game will control your partner with AI. Early looks at the game suggest it delivers more of the experiences fans already enjoy from the series.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – October 16
The eagerly awaited sequel to Pokémon Legends: Arceus arrives this month. Many players loved the first game because it significantly changed how Pokémon games are usually played, and Pokémon Legends Z-A is following suit. It features a brand-new battle system that appears to be inspired by the battles in Xenoblade Chronicles. There’s plenty to look forward to with this new installment.
Keeper – October 17
Double Fine is offering something truly unusual with Keeper, a game where you control a living, breathing lighthouse. The game features beautiful claymation visuals, and we’re hoping it delivers engaging puzzle-platforming gameplay to match its stunning look and make for a really memorable experience. Learn more about Keeper here.
Ninja Gaiden 4 – October 20
After more than ten years, Ninja Gaiden 4 is a true continuation of the series, aiming to deliver the same intense action, but in a way that’s easier for newcomers to enjoy. It will still feature the incredibly difficult gameplay that longtime fans expect, but it also includes options to lower the difficulty for those who aren’t accustomed to such a challenging experience.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 – October 21
Okay, so Frontier is back with a new Jurassic Park game, and honestly, these are hands-down the best dinosaur park games *ever* made. You get to build this awesome, high-tech dinosaur park, but you really need to try and avoid everything going wrong like in the movies! This time around, there are 80 different species of dinosaurs, and they’ve really upped the creative side of things. It’s a lot like their other games, like Planet Coaster – everything you build is totally modular, so you can customize it to look *exactly* how you want. You can really get into the finest details of managing your park, which is super cool.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – October 21
The popular RPG from 2004 is getting a long-awaited sequel! You’ll play as a Nomad vampire, venturing through the city of Seattle in the 21st century. Just like the original game, you’ll encounter different vampire clans – you can choose to become allies with them, or battle against them – all while discovering the secrets of being a vampire in today’s world.
Dispatch – October 22
In Dispatch, you’re in charge of saving the city by sending out members of a superhero team to handle emergencies. You’ll need to decide which hero is best suited for each situation, and also manage the team at headquarters – keeping them satisfied and making story-altering decisions. It’s all about strategic deployment and team management!
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault – October 23
Moonlighter is a delightful and original indie game where you explore challenging, randomly-generated dungeons at night, and then return home to sell the items you find in your shop during the day. The sequel is scheduled to enter early access this month, and it’s evolving the original’s 2D pixel-art visuals into a 3D isometric style. Players will be able to expand their trading empire to new heights.
Jackbox Party Pack 11 – October 23
Yes, they’re still making Jackbox Party Packs, who knew? This pack contains five new games:
- Doomwrite – A joke-writing game for 3-8 players
- Hear Say – A game about recording sounds as foley artists for 2-8 players
- Cookie Haus – A drawing game where you fulfill strange cookie orders for 3-8 players
- Suspectives – A social deduction game where you’ll use survey answers to find the culprit for 4-8 players.
- Legends of Trivia – A trivia game in a fantasy world where you must survive your adventure for 1-6 players.
Once Upon a Katamari – October 24
This month also sees a new installment in the Katamari series, offering a fresh adventure with the beloved, classic gameplay of rolling up everything in sight.
The Outer Worlds 2 – October 29
We’re still seeing a lot of sequels this month, and now Obsidian is releasing the second Outer Worlds game. The original game was popular with many players, although some reviewers felt it could have been more in-depth. However, this new installment promises to be improved and more expansive, potentially making a strong impression when it launches at the end of the month. More details here.
Arc Raiders – October 30
This fresh sci-fi shooter, where you complete missions and then escape, has already proven popular with players during its test phases, and a dedicated community is eager for its full release at the end of the month. It has the potential to become a major player in a genre currently led by just one game, and we hope it will significantly refresh the experience for players.
