Moviegoers have discovered it’s often a good idea to stay until the very end of a film. Especially with heist movies, those scenes after the credits start – when names are scrolling – often include a final surprise or hint at a sequel. The most satisfying part of the story sometimes doesn’t happen until after everything seems to be over, right before the lights come on. These extra scenes add depth to the story and give attentive viewers important details they wouldn’t otherwise see.
‘Fast Five’ (2011)

Dom Toretto and his team head to Rio de Janeiro with a daring plan: to steal $100 million from a dishonest businessman. They pull off the heist, successfully maneuvering a huge vault through the city streets and escaping to a country where they can’t be extradited. However, their celebration is cut short when Agent Luke Hobbs receives a new case file. It contains a recent photo of Letty Ortiz, who everyone believed was dead. This shocking discovery brings the team back together and hints at what’s to come in the next installment.
‘Ant-Man’ (2015)

I was on the edge of my seat watching Scott Lang pull off that incredible heist at Cross Technologies! He used his shrinking ability to get inside and stop Darren Cross from unleashing something really dangerous, and thankfully, he succeeded. It was awesome to see him not just save the day, but get back to being a great dad too. But the real moment for me was after the credits. Hank Pym showing Hope that secret room and revealing the Wasp suit? That was huge! It wasn’t just about her helping with the mission anymore; it clearly showed she’s going to become a full-fledged superhero alongside Scott. I’ve been waiting for that moment, and I can’t wait to see what she does with it!
‘Now You See Me’ (2013)

In a grand finale, the Four Horsemen create the illusion of raining money on a crowd, then set up a wealthy man to take the blame. Managing to evade the FBI, they regroup at a carousel in Central Park to begin their next plan. A post-credits scene reveals they’ve driven to a hidden scrapyard in the desert, discovering a secret base filled with their gear – confirming their official status as members of the ancient society known as The Eye.
‘Army of the Dead’ (2021)

Scott Ward heads a team of mercenaries on a dangerous mission: to recover millions of dollars from a casino vault in zombie-filled Las Vegas. Although most of his team doesn’t make it, Vanderohe survives when the city is ultimately destroyed by a nuclear blast. He escapes the ruins with bags of money and charters a plane to Mexico City. However, the ending shows he was bitten during the mission and is unknowingly carrying the zombie virus with him.
‘Red Notice’ (2021)

Nolan Booth and John Hartley join forces to steal three valuable golden eggs, cleverly dodging a competing thief called the Bishop. The movie ends with the three criminals successfully evading Interpol and beginning to plan their next big heist as a team. A final scene shows them heading towards the Louvre Museum in Paris, suggesting that their past rivalry has turned into a lasting partnership for future, ambitious robberies.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ (2003)

Jack Sparrow and Will Turner overcome Captain Barbossa, breaking the ancient Aztec curse that affected the crew of the Black Pearl. This restores the pirates’ mortality, and Jack gets his ship, the Black Pearl, back to continue his adventures. After the credits, the scene cuts back to the treasure cave, where Jack the Monkey is left behind. He takes another coin from the treasure chest and is instantly turned into a skeleton by the moonlight.
‘Uncharted’ (2022)

Nathan Drake and his mentor, Victor Sullivan, are in a desperate race against dangerous mercenaries to locate the legendary gold of explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Although the majority of the treasure is lost at sea, Nate manages to salvage a small portion. After the credits, Nate tries to trade a ring while imprisoned and encounters a new enemy. This scene also reveals that his brother, Sam, is alive and incarcerated, and has been sending Nate postcards.
‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ (2023)

Edgin and his unlikely crew pull off a daring robbery to get a magical tablet that can bring people back to life, hoping to save the city of Neverwinter. They triumph over a powerful Red Wizard and, in doing so, begin to repair their tarnished images. After the credits, the story revisits a graveyard where the team briefly brought a corpse back to life to ask questions. The zombie remains standing, patiently waiting for someone to finish the conversation so he can finally rest in peace.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (2017)

Peter Parker prevents Adrian Toomes from stealing a plane full of powerful weapons belonging to the Avengers. Toomes ends up in prison, where he meets Mac Gargan, a criminal hurt during the robbery. After the movie ends, Gargan asks Toomes who Spider-Man is, hoping to get revenge. Toomes refuses to reveal Spider-Man’s identity, choosing instead to protect the young hero who once saved him.
‘Cruella’ (2021)

I was absolutely floored watching Estella pull off her plan! She managed to get back everything that was rightfully hers and completely take down the Baroness. It was amazing to see her finally become Cruella de Vil, embracing that wild, unpredictable side of herself. And then, in a surprising move after the credits, she sent Pongo and Perdita – two adorable dalmatian puppies – to Roger and Anita. It’s clear now that was the very beginning of everything that happened in the original story, setting up the whole puppy-napping plot!
‘Army of Thieves’ (2021)

During a zombie crisis in Europe, Ludwig Dieter, a master safecracker, successfully opens three famously secure vaults. He willingly puts himself in danger, allowing his accomplice to avoid capture by Interpol. The story then jumps ahead in time, revealing Scott Ward enlisting Dieter’s help for a Las Vegas heist, directly linking this earlier story to the events of the next film.
‘Now You See Me 2’ (2016)

After revealing the wrongdoing of Arthur Tressler and Walter Mabry, the Horsemen escape London by boat. They travel to the Greenwich Observatory for a face-to-face meeting with the leaders of The Eye. A scene after the credits shows the Horsemen finding a hidden room behind a curtain in a magic shop. This discovery reveals The Eye is a much more extensive organization than they initially thought, and they begin to explore its secret headquarters.
‘Suicide Squad’ (2016)

Task Force X was sent to Midway City on a rescue mission, only to discover they were saving Amanda Waller herself. They completed the mission successfully and received reduced sentences as a reward, returning to Belle Reve prison. After the credits, Waller is shown meeting with Bruce Wayne, where she hands over a file containing information about metahumans. This information is exactly what Wayne needs to begin assembling the Justice League.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ (2018)

Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne team up to rescue Hope’s mother, Janet, from a strange, microscopic dimension. They succeed, and Scott is finally free from house arrest, able to return to normal life. However, a post-credits scene reveals Scott going back into that dimension to collect particles that can help a friend. This scene quickly becomes tragic when Hope and her parents suddenly vanish, victims of a devastating event caused by Thanos.
