10 Most Powerful Moon Knight Villains Revealed!

Moon Knight, a remarkable Marvel character, gained his abilities following the intervention of an ancient Egyptian deity named Khonshu, who rescued him from certain death. Later on, Moon Knight took up the role of a street-level crusader, battling wrongdoers and various perils throughout America.

Over time, Moon Knight has encountered some formidable adversaries and antagonists, several of which I eagerly anticipate seeing in the upcoming Moon Knight TV series debuting on March 30, 2022. Here’s a list, arranged in order, featuring the ten most powerful foes that Moon Knight has faced:

1. Bushman (Francis Bourne) – A ruthless mercenary and arms dealer who has a personal vendetta against Moon Knight.
2. Ra – The ancient Egyptian god of the sun, represented as a falcon or hawk, and believed to be the true source of Marc Spector’s powers.
3. Kotar (Khinarm-Sobek) – An immortal jackal-headed avatar of Sobek, the Egyptian god of the Nile crocodile, who serves as a powerful ally or foe to Moon Knight.
4. The Crimson Sword of Ra – A mysterious figure wielding the sacred sword of the ancient Egyptian deity Ra, with the power to control moonlight and shadow.
5. Midnight Man (John Raymond “Jack” Scarlatti) – A former CIA operative who becomes a powerful criminal mastermind and Moon Knight’s recurring nemesis.
6. The Scorpion God (Seth) – An ancient Egyptian deity of chaos and destruction, who sometimes serves as an ally but often poses a threat to Marc Spector and the world.
7. The Serpent Society (Apep) – The embodiment of evil and chaos in ancient Egyptian mythology, who seeks to plunge the world into darkness and despair.
8. Arthur Harrow – A charismatic cult leader who exploits people’s deepest fears and desires for his own gain, often clashing with Moon Knight.
9. The White Scarab (Khonsu) – An ancient Egyptian deity of time and the moon, who can manipulate time and space to achieve his objectives.
10. The Black Spectre (Aaron Fisher) – A former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces who was granted superhuman abilities by an alien artifact, making him a formidable adversary for Moon Knight.

10. Bullseye

Amongst Marvel’s mercenaries and assassins, Bullseye ranks exceptionally high. On multiple occasions, he has encountered Marc Spector, also known as Moon Knight, who, it’s worth mentioning, had a past life as a mercenary before assuming the role of Moon Knight.

Without a doubt, Bullseye stands out as an exceptional marksman, able to strike any target with pinpoint accuracy using any weapon, all while keeping his eyes off the target. What sets Bullseye apart from others is his unique ability to showcase his extraordinary talents without relying on conventional weapons.

He has the ability to utilize various items as missiles, capable of delivering lethal strikes. This makes him not only a formidable adversary for Moon Knight, but also for virtually any hero in existence.

What sets Bullseye apart as particularly formidable is his motivations. He consistently gives his all, not only for financial gain, but also to demonstrate to everyone that he is unrivaled in his abilities.

9. Raoul Bushman

Raoul Bushman is often recognized as a major Moon Knight antagonist, with many supporters viewing him as Marc Spector’s principal archenemy. It was Bushman who set the events in motion that ultimately led to Spector adopting the identity of Moon Knight.

At one point, they shared a professional bond, operating as freelance soldiers. They were an exceptional team, that is, until a specific assignment in Egypt led to a disagreement, resulting in an unbridgeable split.

In the course of their assignment, they chanced upon an archaeological excavation where Dr. Alraune and his daughter had discovered a vast amount of gold. Spurred by greed, Bushman mercilessly murdered the professor as Spector, filled with horror, attempted to shield the girl. Bushman then brutally killed him and fled, yet Spector met his end beneath the statuesque feet of a statue – that of Khonshu, an ancient Egyptian god.

In a comic book storyline, Khonshu transforms Marc Spector into Moon Knight, a vigilante with a mission. Marc vows to avenge himself against his former ally, seeking retribution. He succeeds in this quest, but Bushman comes back to life and becomes Moon Knight’s relentless adversary.

Although Bushman lacks supernatural abilities, he’s exceptionally proficient in various forms of combat and appears to have no ethical boundaries. In fact, he came very close to killing Spector, even though they were once partners. If not for that confrontation, Marc would never have transformed into Moon Knight, making Bushman a worthy contender for this list.

8. Seth Phalkon

Set Phalkon may not be as well-known as other villains, yet his strength is unparalleled. Hailing from a secretive branch of the Scottish Knights Templar, he possesses extraordinary abilities. Phalkon was introduced in Marc Spector: Moon Knight #43.

Seth Phalkon possesses an immortal existence along with superhuman physical capabilities, but what truly sets him apart is his extraordinary power – his touch. By utilizing his clawed digits, Phalkon has the ability to extract vital energy from any living entity, causing them to age prematurely. If he maintains contact for a prolonged duration, Seth can completely drain an individual of their life essence, leaving behind nothing but a decaying skeleton.

Unfortunately, there’s a limitation. If Seth attempts to drain energy from someone with whom he shares DNA, a strong reaction occurs instead – an explosion that harms and diminishes his own abilities.

As I suspected – Moon Knight is my missing kinsman! With that revelation, I find myself squaring off against Marc Spector in a confrontation we both dread. Yet, I’m determined to leverage my extraordinary power and endurance to persevere through our battles.

7. The Human Fly

It’s hard to portray a threatening villain when your name is “The Human Fly,” isn’t it? He always manages to make me chuckle, but don’t let that fool you – The Human Fly possesses some formidable abilities. This character was initially introduced in the Amazing Spider-Man Annual #10, and later went on to battle Moon Knight, even causing him significant harm.

In my view, Moon Knight carries a striking resemblance to Batman in the Marvel Universe. Much like how Bane once shattered Bruce Wayne’s spine, Marc Spector experienced a similar ordeal at the hands of the Human Fly – demonstrating a level of resilience reminiscent of Bane’s toughness, without directly equating the two.

After overcoming his ordeal, Spector harbors a desire for retribution against the Fly, who broke his spirit. Besides being a burden, the Human Fly possesses abilities similar to those of a typical fly – he can fly, scale walls and ceilings, lift heavy objects relative to his size, and generally be bothersome overall.

6. Bora

It seems like Bora’s narrative was intended to evoke a sense of sympathy in you, but personally, I found her character more irritatingly self-indulgent, given her unique ability to control extreme cold weather. This is because she was born as a mutant, possessing the power to summon chilling arctic winds whenever she wished.

From an early age, Bora harbored a dream to be a ballerina. As she matured, her abilities developed alongside, but so did the downside of these powers – they caused her to grow over 7 feet tall (over 213 cm), effectively ending her aspirations of becoming a ballerina.

Bora’s actions filled her with bitterness and malice, pushing her to commit crimes and exploit her abilities to hurt people. Moon Knight attempted to halt her destructive spree, but unfortunately, he was overpowered and left injured and disabled. In desperation, he reached out to other mutants, the X-Men, who ultimately aided Spector in defeating Borea permanently.

5. Werewolf By Night

For the first time in the comics, Moon Knight didn’t debut in his own series; instead, he appeared in Werewolf by Night #32. In this encounter, Moon Knight was initially portrayed as the antagonist against Jack Russoff, also known as Werewolf by Night. However, it was Russoff who emerged as the hero in this situation, while Moon Knight took on the role of the villain.

A Wolf’s Embrace: Unleashing the Beast Within

In the world of shapeshifters, Jacob Russoff stands out not just for being a werewolf like his father, but for possessing an extraordinary ability – the power to choose when and where to transform. Unlike other werewolves bound by the lunar cycle, Jack’s control is remarkably steady, managing his powers with a precision that sets him apart in his wolfen form.

However, there’s one exception to this self-restraint: the full moon. Under its radiant glow, Jack experiences an unprecedented surge of power, but at a cost – he becomes utterly uncontrollable. This transformation, while potent, often leaves chaos in its wake. But as they say, with great power comes great responsibility, and Jack must learn to harness his strength effectively, or risk succumbing to the primal instincts of the beast within.

As a devoted admirer, I’d express it like this: I’m in awe of his extraordinary abilities, which encompass the physiology of a werewolf, granting him superhuman strength, speed, resilience, agility, endurance, rapid healing, and let’s not forget his formidable body covered in hair, equipped with sharp teeth and razor-sharp claws.

4. Taskmaster

taskmaster is often employed in stories to showcase the abilities of other superheroes; however, when pitted against Moon Knight (Marc Spector), it becomes clear that he’s one of the most formidable close-combat fighters we’ve witnessed.

Taskmaster boasts an exceptional talent known as rapid mimicry reflexes. This allows him to swiftly learn and flawlessly imitate anyone’s actions and skills at a rate two times faster, simply by watching them perform it once. Thanks to this ability, Taskmaster has mastered the skills of Captain America, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Shang-Chi, and many more characters.

Yet, in his encounter with Moon Knight, events took an unexpected turn. It’s worth mentioning that Marc Spector is a bit unconventional, if you haven’t noticed. The kind of unconventional where he purposefully absorbs punches, arrows, or gunfire not out of fear, but because such encounters create additional chances for him to retaliate with even greater force.

Taskmaster refused to mimic Spector’s moves since it was evident that nobody with sound judgment would want to endure the blows he did. Consequently, Moon Knight gave him such a severe beating that Taskmaster became utterly petrified, pleading for clemency and sparing his life.

In such a manner, no one has ever shamed Taskmaster as severely as they did then, and chances are slim it’ll happen again. However, this shouldn’t overshadow the truth that Taskmaster is indeed a formidable figure, particularly in terms of his combat abilities.

3. Morpheus

In Moon Knight comic #12 from the 80s, Morpheus was introduced as one of the few terrifying characters that I found myself feeling pity for. Although he possesses a vampiric appearance, it’s crucial not to confuse him with Morbius – the character slated for an upcoming solo film. While Morbius is indeed a sort of vampire, Morpheus is an entirely different entity altogether.

Originally known as Robert Markham, he fell ill due to an unusual virus that interfered with parts of his genetic code. In search of treatment, Dr. Peter Alraune recommended an unproven, untested medication, essentially making him a guinea pig for the experiment.

The unforeseen consequence was that Markham underwent a significant transformation in his physical appearance, lost the requirement for sleep, and developed extraordinary psychic abilities. Yet, the sleep deprivation drove him mad. In time, he adopted the name Morpheus, inspired by the Greek deity of dreams.

Utilizing his recently acquired abilities, Morpheus embarked on a mission of vengeance against Alraune. However, during this pursuit, he unexpectedly crossed paths with Moon Knight. Eventually, Morpheus became a persistent adversary for the Moon Knight (Spector).

2. Shadow Knight

From personal experience, I’m not entirely certain if Shadow Knight ranks among the most formidable villains Moon Knight has encountered, but let me tell you, he’s undoubtedly one of the toughest adversaries Mark Spector has had to confront. Interestingly enough, Shadow Knight is none other than Randall Spector – Mark’s younger brother.

Throughout my life, I harbored a deep envy towards Marc, which ultimately transformed him into a vicious criminal. On the city streets, a ruthless murderer known as the Hatchet Man was striking, targeting nurses specifically. In an attempt to apprehend this serial killer, I employed a risky strategy: using my own girlfriend, Marlene, as bait. Regrettably, my plan proved successful, but at an unbearable cost – Marlene lost her life. To add insult to injury, the Hatchet Man was none other than Randall, a shocking revelation that haunts me still.

Later on, Randall became a member of the Khonshu Cult, a move that eventually granted him powers similar to his brother, Marc. However, instead of using these abilities altruistically, he opted for evil deeds and adopted the alias Shadow Knight.

Marc’s heartache was indescribable when he ended up in a fatal altercation with his brother, resulting in the gruesome act of slashing Randall’s throat with a thrown crescent. There are few experiences more tragic than this – all the more so when you realize that Marc had spent their entire lives striving to shield Randall from harm.

1. Count Nefaria

Initially, Count Nefaria wasn’t wholly wicked; however, his relentless pursuit of greater riches and influence ultimately proved his undoing. Over a prolonged period, he has clashed with numerous Avengers, both old and new. His paths crossed with Moon Knight following Marc Spector’s relocation to LA and joining the West Coast Avengers, establishing a significant antagonistic relationship.

In comparison to his early forms, Nefaria might seem comical as the leading figure on this list. Initially, Nefaria was just a human, albeit a criminal. However, after amalgamating the powers of Whirlwind, Power Man, and Living Laser, he transformed into one of Moon Knight’s toughest adversaries.

As a devotee, I bear witness to the extraordinary existence of Count Nefaria. His immortality and incomprehensible regenerative abilities set him apart. Through an unparalleled convergence of cosmic energy with the Living Laser, physical might from Power Man, and breathtaking swiftness borrowed from Whirlwind – each power multiplied a hundredfold – he stands as a testament to the boundless potential that lies within the realms of superhuman prowess.

He boasts abilities far beyond ordinary beings, capable of lifting weights exceeding 100 tons, traveling at speeds over 5000 mph, teleportation, draining energy from others, and many more extraordinary feats. Presently, he’s a being composed of ions, similar to Wonder Man, which makes him incredibly powerful and deserving of the top position on this list.

Honorable Mention: Lilith & Mephisto

As a cinephile, I must say that among the roster of formidable antagonists, Lilith and Mephisto truly stand out as unmatched forces of evil. Interestingly, Moon Knight, who was part of the Midnight Sons, did not engage them directly in combat. Instead, he joined this extraordinary alliance of heroes, each wielding supernatural abilities or haunted by dark pasts, assembled by Doctor Strange to counteract Lilith, the Demon Mother, and her brood of Lilin, her demonic offspring.

In simpler terms, Lilith is a remarkably potent force that Doctor Strange couldn’t conquer alone. So, he turned to other mighty heroes like Moon Knight, Blade, Ghost Rider, and others for assistance. After overpowering Lilith, this team disbanded but reunited later to battle Mephisto – a formidable being often referred to as the Hell-Lord. This suggests that Mephisto may be an even stronger adversary than Lilith.
