2025 bucked the trend of a slow gaming season during early summer, as June was filled with major releases just like any other month this year. On one hand, we’re eagerly waiting for highly anticipated games such as Death Stranding 2 to hit the shelves this month. On the flip side, Nintendo is unveiling its new console generation with the Nintendo Switch 2, along with all the accompanying launch content.
Since there’s quite a bit to discuss, some exciting games might accidentally be overlooked. Here’s our summary of the top games expected to launch in June 2025.
Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4 – June 4
Toby Fox is set to release two new chapters for the highly acclaimed indie game sequel to Undertale, meaning there will be even more fan art flooding from this captivating universe. By now, you’re either deeply immersed in these games and eagerly awaiting each update or have decided they don’t appeal to you, so your purchasing decision is likely already made. Regardless, it’s undeniable that this release is among the most anticipated of the month.
Nintendo Switch 2 – June 5
At long last, the successor to a legendary console has arrived, marking a significant step for Nintendo’s future. As fresh first-party games roll out progressively in the ensuing months, some fan favorites like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will receive enhanced versions for the new console, while others such as Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet will benefit from free updates to enhance their gameplay on Switch 2.

Mario Kart World – June 5
The brand-new Mario Kart game debuting simultaneously with Switch 2, titled “Mario Kart World,” represents the first completely fresh installment since 2014 in the Mario Kart series. This game introduces an open-world environment, featuring Grand Prix races and innovative modes that allow you to race across tracks, while still offering traditional racing experiences. The game is brimming with exciting surprises and its diverse character roster makes it one of the most highly anticipated releases this year.
MindsEye – June 10
This game is particularly notable due to the experienced team behind it, as they include ex-developers from Grand Theft Auto. They’re working on a single-player shooter with an engaging narrative, a rarity in today’s gaming landscape. This suggests that it could fulfill a niche not many are currently addressing. Regardless, we eagerly anticipate the results this team will produce with a project of this scale.
The Alters – June 13
The upcoming game from the creators of This War of Mine and Frostpunk, titled The Alters, presents a fresh take on survival management-sims, this time in a captivating sci-fi environment. Your survivor, in this game, will utilize various iterations of himself to maintain his base and ensure his own survival. The setting promises thrilling expeditions across hostile alien terrains, while retaining the thought-provoking moral quandaries that these games are renowned for. However, unlike previous games, it appears there won’t be a need for child labor due to all characters being alternate versions of the same individual.
FBC: Firebreak – June 17
In a new venture, Remedy is dabbling with a cooperative multiplayer game called FBC: Firebreak, which unfolds within the universe of Control. This game takes place after the events depicted in Control. You’ll join forces with up to three other players and engage in first-person shooter combat against numerous peculiar creatures inhabiting the FBC. Featuring a diverse array of roles and weaponry, this game promises an intriguing experience.
Tron: Catalyst – June 17
Mike Bithell continues his creative streak, unveiling a sequel to his 2023 release, “Tron: Identity”. In this follow-up, the story unfolds within the legendary sci-fi milieu, where the original game was a detective-thriller. However, for this installment, visual novel gameplay is intertwined with isometric action sequences. Just like Bithell’s previous works, expect a strong focus on narrative that aims to harmoniously mesh with the gameplay, promising another engaging adventure.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – June 26
Regardless of your opinions on the initial Death Stranding installment, you might find yourself curious about the upcoming chapter in this series, simply to discover what unique and eccentric character names Hideo Kojima will concoct next. This sequel is expected to advance significantly from its predecessor in terms of both storyline and gameplay, making it a title that’s sure to generate debate, much like the first game. However, it’s difficult not to admire its ambition.
Persona 5: The Phantom X – June 26
After a considerable period of exclusivity in Asia, Persona 5: The Phantom X is set to debut in the Western hemisphere towards the end of this month. This installment introduces a new main character and takes place within the same universe as Persona 5, albeit with a twist – it’s a gacha game. Despite some uncertainty regarding its specific release location, due to the Steam page not confirming June 26th as the launch date, it would be prudent to stay informed. However, it is confirmed that the game will undoubtedly become available on iOS and Android devices on that date.
Word Play – TBC
The specific launch date hasn’t been announced just yet, but World Play, the latest creation from Mark Brown of Game Maker’s Toolkit, is expected in June 2025. Following his triumph with Mind Over Magnet, a magnet-based puzzle game launched last year, this new title seems to blend elements of Scrabble and Balatro. In it, you’ll be forming words to boost your score, with power-ups, modifiers, and engaging additional mechanics hidden throughout. It appears to be incredibly addictive, and I can hardly wait to spend countless hours absorbed in it.
