You’ll find everything from a Korean spy thriller to Marvel cartoons, special Lucasfilm presentations, and new takes on classic Disney stories. There’s something for everyone, and with plenty of episodes, your watchlist will be full all month long.

Here’s a rundown of what’s coming to streaming and theaters in late September and October. We’ve organized it to highlight the newest releases first, then followed with Disney+ originals and important installments in established franchises. With each selection, we’ve included the key details – the premise and creators – so you can quickly find something great to watch without having to do a lot of research.

‘Vampirina: Teenage Vampire’ (2025– )

Taking place years after the original cartoon, this live-action sequel follows Vee as she attends a boarding school for the performing arts. There, practicing for shows, making friends, and keeping her secret identity separate all become intertwined. The story introduces us to Vee’s new classmates and teachers, and also explores her family’s history and features visits from the supernatural world, making life at school wonderfully challenging.

Based on Anne Marie Pace’s ‘Vampirina Ballerina’ books and the world of Disney Junior, this series features new songs and dance routines. It also updates the stories about monsters to appeal to teenage audiences, and uses a mix of real-life effects and computer animation to create spooky scenes in the hallways and funny problems during performances. The show is made by Disney Branded Television for Disney+, and it’s designed for viewers who enjoyed the original books and show as children.

‘Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Animation’ (2025– )

Based on the popular mobile game created by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan, and featuring original character designs by Yana Toboso, this anime is set at Night Raven College-a school divided into seven dorms, each inspired by famous Disney villains. The story follows a new student as they deal with competition between the dorms, magical battles, and customs linked to well-known Disney stories like ‘The Queen of Hearts,’ ‘Scarabia,’ and ‘Octavinelle.’

I’m really impressed with the animation work – it’s being done by fantastic studios like Yumeta Company and Graphinica! The direction is in the capable hands of Shin Katagai, and the series composition is overseen by Takahiro Natori, with wonderfully written scripts by Yoichi Kato. I especially love how Takumi Ozawa’s music seamlessly incorporates themes from the game, tying everything together – the different character stories, the challenges in the dorm, and all the big events designed for streaming. It really brings the world to life and feels so cohesive. The music really elevates the experience, and I’m excited to see how it all unfolds. You can find more information about the studios here.

‘Marvel Zombies’ (2025)

Following the events of ‘What If…?’, this animated limited series presents a different reality where a zombie virus dramatically changes well-known Marvel characters – both heroes and villains. Characters like Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel struggle to survive in ruined cities, facing corrupted versions of their old friends. The series combines scary moments with action and dark comedy, all packed into a short, easily binge-watched run.

Created by Marvel Animation, the series is directed by Bryan Andrews and written by head writer Zeb Wells. Its four-episode structure emphasizes big, visually impressive moments and fresh takes on familiar characters, all enhanced by the unique style of animation. This results in a standalone, more adult story within the larger MCU multiverse.

‘Tempest’ (2025– )

This Korean thriller blends espionage, romance, and suspense, centering around Seo Munju, a former diplomat, and Baek Sanho, her mysterious bodyguard. They investigate a dangerous assassination attempt that unravels into a large-scale international conspiracy. Imaginus and other studios with experience in producing popular Korean dramas also helped bring the series to life.

‘Electric Bloom’ (2025)

This original animated series takes place in a futuristic city powered by a strange energy source. It centers around a group of teenagers who develop abilities linked to this energy. They have to juggle the normal challenges of school, friends, and growing up, all while dealing with dangers that arise from the energy surge. The voice cast includes up-and-coming stars like Zeno Robinson and Ayo Edebiri.

Created by Disney Television Animation for Disney+, the first season is released all at once. It uses bright, neon colors and stylish action to explore ongoing stories about working together and figuring out who you are. The show focuses on developing its characters and building a detailed world, linking its science-fantasy setting to the relatable experiences of growing up.

‘LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past’ (2025)

This special animated adventure throws the entire ‘Star Wars’ galaxy into disarray when a mysterious object messes with the timeline. A new, young hero, with Gaten Matarazzo providing the voice, joins forces with well-known characters such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader-voiced by Mark Hamill and Matt Lanter-to restore order amidst the excitement of LEGO-style action and a quickly moving plot.

Created together by Lucasfilm and LEGO for Disney+, this special combines the brand’s silly humor with iconic moments and surprise appearances from the Star Wars universe. Chris Buckley directed, and Dan Langlois served as executive producer, resulting in a fun, family-friendly experience perfect for a single viewing. It playfully references established Star Wars storylines while maintaining the familiar and beloved tone of LEGO Star Wars.

‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ (2024– )

This series is a follow-up to ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ and it focuses on Justin Russo as he navigates family life in the suburbs. Things get complicated when Billie-a talented young wizard-shows up and asks for his help. David Henrie returns as Justin, alongside Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, and new cast members including Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele, and Max Matenko. Selena Gomez executive produces and makes an appearance as Alex Russo.

This multi-camera comedy series, created by Todd J. Greenwald and developed by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, reimagines classic wizard traditions, the mentor-student relationship, and family fun for today’s audiences. Episodes are directed by talents like Andy Fickman and Jody Margolin Hahn, who maintain the original show’s comedic timing while also adding new layers to the magical world and its rules.

‘Star Wars: Visions’ (2021– )

The animated anthology series from Lucasfilm is back, offering fresh shorts that present the Star Wars galaxy in unique ways. Each short is created with a different animation style and reflects diverse cultural perspectives. Past collections included work from innovative Japanese studios like Trigger and Science SARU, as well as international collaborators such as Aardman, Cartoon Saloon, Studio Mir, Punkrobot, and Triggerfish. Each of these studios contributed original, standalone stories that aren’t part of the main Star Wars storyline.

At Lucasfilm, executive producers like James Waugh and Jacqui Lopez oversee projects that promote creative exploration using various animation styles – including traditional hand-drawn, stop-motion, and computer-generated imagery. These new shorts explore familiar Star Wars ideas – such as the importance of found family, the pull of temptation, and the enduring power of hope – while also presenting new artistic styles, music, and expanded stories designed for short-form viewing.

‘Superkitties’ (2023– )

Get ready for more adventures with the brave cats of Kittydale-Ginny, Buddy, Sparks, and Bitsy! They’re back with new episodes this month, continuing their gadget-filled rescues and relying on strong teamwork. The voice cast features Emma Berman, Cruz Flateau, JeCobi Swain, Landon Chase Dubois, Pyper Braun, and the wonderful Carmen Carter, who performs the theme song.

The series was created by Paula Rosenthal and is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television Kids and Disney Branded Television. Directing duties have been shared by Chad Van De Keere and Andrew Duncan throughout the seasons. The show’s energetic feel and weekly mystery format are enhanced by music composed by Keith Harrison Dworkin and Vidjay Beerepoot.

‘Kiff’ (2023– )

This funny musical series centers around Kiff Chatterley, a relentlessly cheerful squirrel, and her laid-back best friend, Barry Buns.
