As a dedicated follower and admirer of Sunny Hostin, I can’t help but be moved by her graceful and diplomatic approach to addressing the controversies that have surfaced regarding The View. With her extensive background as a prosecutor and her deep understanding of the complexities of human interactions, it is no surprise that she approaches such situations with wisdom and empathy.
Previously, Sunny Hostin openly expressed her thoughts regarding a former colleague who had criticized their time together on the widely recognized talk show, The View. Hostin was clear and direct when discussing her sentiments towards this matter.
As reported by Deadline, during an interview with Us Weekly in May, she openly shared her dismay regarding a particular issue. In her own words, the ex-prosecutor candidly admitted, “I’m often taken aback when people criticize our show, to put it frankly.”
She commented, “For 27 years we’ve shared this journey, with around 24 different co-hosts. You were part of something truly unique – a sisterhood. And let me tell you, it’s incredibly precious.” Hostin went on to share that she keeps in touch with Sherri Shepherd, Candace Cameron Bure, and Paula Faris, who had appeared on the show previously. Additionally, she mentioned that at one point, Candace Cameron Bure had even sent her a bottle of wine from her vineyard, according to Deadline.
Hostin explained that despite having varying opinions, they all remained “close” and kept their disagreements “on the table.” She found it surprising when someone expressed dislike for another person, stressing that such feelings were always “impersonal,” as everyone involved in the show understood this going into their collaboration.
In my understanding, while no specific individuals were named, it’s common knowledge that some of our previous co-hosts, such as Rosie O’Donnell and Meghan McCain, have openly discussed challenging times they encountered during their tenure on the show.
Hostin noted that during her start on The View, Barbara Walters emphasized that discussions on the program should remain impersonal, a rule which Whoopi Goldberg often reminds us of to this day.
Every time we step onto that set, there’s a certain ritual I look forward to – the one where we may lock horns during the show, but afterwards, over a couple of martinis, all is forgiven. This tradition, Hostin has carried on, and she passed it along to my co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin. Even in our disagreements, it’s these moments that make everything feel just… okay.
Hostin explained that the co-hosts discuss a variety of subjects, including mental health, separation, weight fluctuations, and their personal lives. She noted, “If stepping off the stage isn’t a secure environment, it would make for an unimaginable job.”
Following McCain and O’Donnell’s comments on the show, it ignited a significant uproar, with the topic rapidly gaining popularity among viewers. The program, “The View,” became a hot topic for online conversations.
