It’s time to bid farewell to “Suits LA,” as NBC has decided to end the spin-off of the popular USA Network series “Suits” after only one season. Known for his role in “Arrow,” Stephen Amell starred in the lead as Ted Black, with the show being created by Aaron Korsh, who also created the original “Suits.” Despite a promising start, viewership numbers remained low and the show struggled to attract viewers, averaging around a million viewers per week. Airing on Sunday nights, a competitive time slot, may have contributed to its cancellation.
The initial “Suits” show, which aired on USA Network from 2011-2019 over nine seasons, was incredibly popular. After its conclusion, it gained renewed popularity on Netflix, attracting a new group of viewers and making it a hit for the streaming service. This success led NBC to consider a new adaptation. However, what works well on basic cable and streaming platforms doesn’t always resonate with traditional network audiences. Regrettably, the canceled “Suits LA” failed to draw in viewers during Sunday night linear TV broadcasts, even though original cast members like Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and David Costabile reprised their roles for several episodes.
The network made every effort to boost viewership by organizing a “Thursday night Suits LA takeover,” which involved airing a three-hour marathon of reruns. However, these attempts fell short in attracting a new audience. If Suits LA manages to secure a platform like Netflix or another streaming service in the future, it may still have a chance, despite its current cancellation. But it’s unlikely that NBC will be part of that future. Besides Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, Bryan Greenberg, Troy Winbush, Rachelle Goulding, Azita Ghanizada, Maggie Grace, and Alice Lee, Suits LA also featured several other talented actors.
