Stranger Things Star Dacre Montgomery Set to Make Directorial Debut With The Engagement Party

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I, Dacre Montgomery, will be stepping behind the camera for the first time as a director with an upcoming project titled “The Engagement Party.” Production is set to kick off later this year. Not only will I be helming the comedy, but I’ll also have the pleasure of sharing the screen with talented actors like Lily Sullivan, Abbey Lee, and Arlo Green.

The film centers around four individuals who gather to mark a significant event. Yet, a disputed recollection looms, potentially shattering their bond.

As each wave strikes the coast, the boundary between recollection and deceit becomes indistinct, compelling them to grapple with a query they’ve long sought to evade: What truly transpired on that fateful evening?

Initially, the occasion appeared ordinary, but things took an uncomfortable turn during a surprising series of gift exchanges, leading up to a significant revelation at dinner.

The project, titled “GoodThing Productions’ latest production,” is a collaborative effort between Nick Batzias and Virginia Whitwell, along with Ian Booth and Nash Edgerton. The script, however, was written by Jory Anast, who has previously worked on Went Up the Hill and is also known for his work featuring Montgomery.

The actor portraying Elvis discussed with Deadline his plans to both direct and star in the upcoming movie, which is already generating interest. He humbly acknowledged being “privileged” to have been given such a valuable role. He asserted that the film would convey a “significantly crucial and relevant message.

1) He’s equally excited about his “outstanding” group of partners who are going to assist in realizing the dream for this project. The film producers have also praised The Engagement Party, describing it as a “unique” production.

According to Batzias and Whitwell, this production is an exceptional and original examination of trauma, love, friendship, and consent. They praised screenwriter Anast and director Montgomery for their courage and fearlessness in storytelling, and they found them to be wonderful partners in the creative process.

In addition to Montgomery’s current projects, he will soon be involved with Dead Man’s Wire by director Gus Van Sant, featuring actors such as Al Pacino, Bill Skarsgard, and Colman Domingo. Additionally, you may catch him in Faces of Death from Legendary Entertainment, co-starring Charlie XCX.
