As a fan who’s been following Nipsey Hussle’s journey since his early days, it’s heart-wrenching to witness the struggles Lauren London, his beloved partner, has faced since his tragic demise. Her strength and resilience are commendable, and yet, her words echo a profound sadness that resonates deeply. I can’t help but think of her as a ship sailing through stormy seas, with prayers and the love of her children as her compass.
On March 31, 2019, when Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot in Los Angeles, people started reflecting deeply on the significant contributions he made towards his South L.A. neighborhood.
Subsequently, people likely started feeling sympathy for Nipsey Hussle’s partner, actress Lauren London, who shares a son with him named Kross Asghedom. In a recent interview on the podcast “A Really Good Cry,” she discussed the challenges she has faced in moving forward since the rapper’s demise.
Lauren confessed, “I’m still in disarray, you see. I suppose I need to seek advice from my friends about how much progress I’ve made because honestly, it feels like I haven’t reached my destination… I often feel weighed down, but then again, I have to remind myself of God’s grace. … I also don’t want to underplay the efforts I’ve put in from the past until now.
Speaking from my heart, I’d like to share that my faith and my two wonderful kids – Kross and Kameron Carter (who I share with Lil Wayne) – have been my pillars of strength throughout this journey so far.
She mentioned that her sons are distinct individuals, given their ages – one is fourteen and the other seven. This means she often serves as an emotional outlet for both of them, comforting them by saying things like, “It’s alright to experience all these feelings, you know? I’m here with you, I empathize, I understand, I listen.” Additionally, she encourages them to express their emotions through journaling or writing letters to each other.
I still genuinely feel like I have not arrived anywhere
Earlier this month, Nipsey Hussle’s older brother Blacc Sam expressed astonishment during an interview on Big Boy’s “Off Air” about how someone could approach closely enough to cause harm to his deceased brother in a conversation.
That was so because Sam, along with others, often functioned as Nipsey’s security detail when he visited the Marathon Clothing store, the scene of the murder. Sam expressed his puzzlement about why the usual precaution of guarding the entrance with weapons wasn’t implemented on the day his brother met his unfortunate end.
On Sunday, Sam remembered that the place was bustling. He wondered why no one seemed to be following proper procedures. Since he wasn’t there himself, it was hard for him to say. Perhaps they were assisting a customer or doing some sort of customer service work. That’s what he suspected… But there was no one standing in the doorway.
According to his explanation, it seemed that the individual initially arrived at the scene without a shirt, likely because of his familiarity with the parking lot’s activities. After speaking with someone, he appeared to verify that no one was inside the building, ensured Hussle was wearing shorts, and checked on everyone else present. Later, they mentioned that he returned with a red shirt on, quietly navigated through an alley, turned right, and began firing shots.
