As a lifestyle expert and having closely followed Antony Starr‘s career, I can’t help but be intrigued by his unique perspective towards superhero franchises.
The Boys actor Antony Starr has his loyalties divided!
Although Starr plays the main villain as Homelander in DC comics, his preferred superhero movie is actually from Marvel. He was particularly drawn to the first Avengers film for its compelling storyline, skillful direction, and polished editing. However, he also expressed his unique perspective regarding one of the beloved superheroes hailing from the DC universe.
Antony Starr on his favorite superhero movie
At the Denver 2024 Fan Expo, the actor shared his preference for “The Avengers” (2012) as his favorite superhero film. He expressed, “I truly enjoyed the initial ‘Avengers’ movie; it was outstanding for me.”
The Avengers series caused a stir at the box office with the team-up of remarkable characters – Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Thor. In Starr’s opinion, despite having such a star-studded cast, the plot seamlessly distributed the storyline, making each character’s development compelling.
As an obsessed fan, I couldn’t help but notice how beautifully the film was put together. The way each scene was shot and directed kept a perfect balance between showcasing Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo. It was a challenge for me, as their performances were so captivating, to resist the urge to focus solely on them. But the directors managed to keep the spotlight evenly distributed throughout the story.
Growing up, DC’s iconic character Batman was always his preferred choice among Marvel movies for this individual. Nevertheless, more recently, he has come to acknowledge that Batman is essentially an affluent man with sophisticated equipment and a butler at his side.
“Initially, I was a fan of Batman. However, as I grew up, I began to view him differently. He’s just an ordinary man, donning a bat costume, equipped with advanced gadgets, and harboring a grudge about wealth.” This perspective comes from someone deeply connected to the franchise.

Starr agrees with The Boys franchise ending with season 5
Amazon Prime Video’s popular superhero show “The Boys” has completed filming for season 4 and is preparing for its final chapter in season 5. According to Starr, who portrays the head of the rebel superhero villains, it seems fitting that the story is approaching its end.
I’m acutely aware that we should end this journey on a high note, both for ourselves and our devoted audience. Prolonging the series may not have yielded the desired outcome, and that’s not a sentiment I want us to leave behind as a parting gift.
He spoke for the entire team and expressed his belief that we’ve done a great job on the show. Despite the consensus to conclude it after five seasons, Starr acknowledged that parting ways was an emotional experience for all of us.
“I’ve had an incredible journey with this team, and parting ways will be bittersweet. It will be hard to put on the spandex for the last time.”
The first four seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Amazon Prime.
