As a long-time follower of Florida hip-hop, the tragic death of Julio Foolio has left me utterly disheartened and saddened. The senseless violence that claimed his life is a stark reminder of the darker side of our vibrant music scene.
Approximately four months have passed since the tragic shooting death of Florida rapper Julio Foolio in Tampa, which occurred on his 26th birthday. Four individuals have been taken into custody, accused of planning and committing a first-degree murder.
Among the suspects is Isaiah Chance, more commonly known as Gudda Zay, who has asserted his innocence on social media platforms. Furthermore, Chance has pointed fingers at the Tampa police force, alleging that they have lied about his participation in the murder case. Interestingly, Chance hails from Jacksonville but moved to Tampa following the death of Foolio; however, he denies tracking him as the police allege.
“How do you track something or someone when it’s already in public? This doesn’t even compute in anyone’s brain. And when did it become unlawful for two couples to leave town? It seems tourism is no longer a thing. The detectives should examine every single piece of footage, not just the bits they want, to find the needle in the haystack.
He suggested, “Retrace the steps of the CCTV cameras and RFID systems, gathering information from every spot since the McDonald’s outing is crucial for the evidence. Be honest about this, not twisting facts to secure a questionable conviction that doesn’t appear to be true at first glance.
Besides Alicia Andrews, Sean Gathright, and Rashad Murphy, who have been apprehended, police continue their search for Davion Murphy, a man wanted in connection with the murder of Foolio. He is currently on the run.
According to Tampa.gov, on June 23rd of this year, Chance and Andrews trailed Foolio, eventually finding him. After this discovery, Chance made a call from his cell phone which prompted another vehicle to show up. They all then followed Foolio to Home 2 Suites, the location where the murder occurred.
According to authorities, the violence was due to a conflict between rival gangs, with Foolio being a member of the Jacksonville-based gang 6 Block and Chance belonging to the ATK gang. It is alleged that ATK, along with members from another gang known as 1200, and possibly other unidentified individuals, united to carry out the attack on Foolio. Rashad Murphy and Davion Murphy are reportedly part of the 1200 gang.
