6:AM Glassworks has just introduced its latest “Square” collection, a visual expression that reimagines Murano-blown glass using fundamental lines and geometric shapes. This groundbreaking line takes cues from the industrial lamps of the 1920s, merging the functional vocabulary of the Bauhaus movement with the minimalist ethos advocated by Malevich. The resulting collection showcases modular lighting fixtures, where details like air bubbles, grooves, and transparencies add a distinct story to each piece.
During this year’s Milan Design Week, the [quadrato] was unveiled for the first time, showcased within the “Two-Fold Silence” exhibition at Piscina Cozzi – an old public bath with a rich history. This unique location offered a captivating glimpse into the brand’s creative world, enabling visitors to immerse themselves in the balance between reason and intuition, structure and feeling, which are the cornerstones of the collection.
The assortment provides a flexible selection of lighting options, including those designed for ceiling (suspension), wall, table, and floor use. One standout item from this collection is the “[EXIT],” characterized by its lattimo-screened glass and painted iron framework. Drawing inspiration from emergency lights from the 1920s, its design mirrors pre-plastic aesthetics, merging practicality with artistic skill in a bold red and white color scheme.
One notable item to highlight is the “Cubic Chandelier 36”, a modern take on the traditional chandelier design. This impressive installation, crafted from 36 individually blown glass cubes, evokes the simplicity of Bauhaus design principles. The arrangement in flat layers accentuates geometric accuracy, creating a suspended grid of glowing cubes that can be further explored upon inquiry.
6:AM’s “Quadrato” series, crafted from handblown glass and powder-coated iron, showcases their dedication to turning utilitarian items into beautiful, architectural artifacts. The collection features prices ranging from €900 – €5,200 EUR (approximately $1,035 – $5,978 USD), with the exception of Quadrato 3, which is available upon request.
